He used to go to Church quite regularly. In the Romanian Church in Paris there is a seat on the right of the entrance with his name on it. That's where he used to sit during services. He was definitely a conflicted individual.
He references lots of stuff, so a certain degree of surface level erudition is necessary in order to understand him, but you can just google the things you don’t know/don’t understand. I recommend starting out with A Short History of Decay
No order but my favorites are New gods, Temptation to exist, The fall into time, tears of saints. Knowledge on Dosto and Speare would be useful but not required.
Read Nagarjunas middle way. Cioran always talks about Nagarjuna. Most mind bending work of philosophy I have ever read.
You can begin with it directly and requires no foreknowledge. The Mark Siderits edition has all the notes one could need to understand the philosophy and its position within the Buddhist tradition.
Was Cioran an atheist?
yes, antinatalist cringleord

Yes
No. He may have become agnostic in the latter part of his life but he was a deeply religious christian for most part.
stop reading atheist, troony
These kind of replies in a IQfy thread is embarrassing.
cioran is heavily spammed by some antinatalist troony proselytizer
stop spamming this homosexual. we already concluded that we're not interested in anything a romanian has to say about anything.
start a shit thread, expect shit answers.
>we already concluded that we're not interested
>we
You need to crawl back to whatever shithole you came from.
we're also not interested in anything that you have to say, just stop making shit threads
Cioran destroyed and refuted your pathetic argument before you were even born
Yeah, I'm sure he was talking about the great people from the Mongolian basket weaving forum who call him a homosexual. Also, post the whole page?
Looks like we got a christcuck on the loose
This is why giving them a containment general was a bad idea
Cioran was a christian.
I'm reading a Short History of Decay -- it's not all that interesting.
skippable
Which translation though?
As if there's multiple to choose from
Random aphorisms, whenever. Any order.
Ciorananon made a list dedicated to Cioran, maybe you'll find it in the archive.
Isn't that Eraserhead?

Are there any issues with the translations? Which translation or publisher should I buy?
Cioran is a coffee table philosopher like Camus or M. Aurelius. You will do just fine reading him with half an attention span.
Really? Which philosopher do you read?
I study all my predecessors and I philosophise o plentily.
In order to understand Cioran you have to bear in mind that he was Romanian.

>Nagarjunas middle way
Whuch particular translation?
Jay garfield
Mark Siderits
The notes available in this translation are superior.
>Nagarjunas middle way
Can you begin with it directly or do you need to have read about Buddhism before it?

It's best to have killed yourself first, even if only once.
why?
Thanks.
