if time is eternal then I think it's certainly possible that somewhere down the line all of this has happened before and will happen again. But this is philosophy, which is beyond the scope of empirical science.

No, obviously the actual infinite cannot exist in reality, that would result in the transfinite arithmetical contradictions of Hilbert's hotel. This is only assuming a counterfactual state of affairs.

          context and possibilities.
you have more chances of living the very same day as part of one of your lives, and each and every one of them has a perfectly identical day, perfectly blended in each life's story, than you are likely to have A FRICKING DEMON TORTURE YOU FOREVER.
do you understand how much more likely literally everything we know is possible is as compared to the moronic idea of a fricking god powerful basilisk?
you are more likely to appear on a random planet at some point after life evolves and exactly your brain is built than you are to spawn as a boltzman brain. you may spawn in gorrilions of more probable ways than you are as something completely moronic.

Consider that one day, for no reason whatsoever, you exist. In general, eternal recurrence merely posits that this one thing that just happened will happen again. The special case of eventually returning to this exact you is a materialist twist based precisely on limited configuration of n-based elements, where n,S<∞ .
I am not sure it really matters to you, but it is supposed to be inspiring.

I think the point of the infinitygays is that notions of "likelihood" (expressed in a number) lose their meaning in these cases, because it doesn't matter what you multiply infinity by, it's still infinity.
Though, the conclusions these people come to are so absurd that I'm much inclined to say infinities are just straight up not a good way of representing reality in this case.

Unless a magic entity manipulates reality such that the same events occur the possibility of current events being a repeat occurence is virtually zero, however it is correct that life is recurring and there is no "you", so to speak, all consciousness is the same thing, experience will come again in some other form some other time

      Anonymous

Your version of consciousness just sounds like a magic entity with extra steps.

        Anonymous

reality is basically magic beyond any of your wildest dreams, but until you can come up with reasonable evidence that "you" couldn't have come to being as anything else in this reality capable of information processing, then it's very hard to consider otherwise, reality itself is both the consciousness and the material, but the consciousness can't do anything without the material, this is essentially what being "dead" is like, just nothingness, until another sufficiently capable information processing machine comes along, starts communicating the information and "you" are alive again as something else in some other time, any semblance of "self" is just an illusory construction of the material form, learned patterns which ingrain specific behaviours and preferences into it, but ultimately "you" are just reality experiencing itself, everyone and everything is, the only separation is between the material, not the consciousness.

no amount of advancement in our sciences will give us a proper understanding of reality, it's inherently nonsensical to the human mind

can you picture with your mind an universe that's existed forever with no beginning or end? no cause and effect, it just existed
what about zooming out infinitely and there is always more and more
zooming in beyond the microscopic level and there is always more

existence is inherently nonsensical, that is what I know
so there has to be something I can't understand going on
I don't know what that is and maybe I cannot know

Not necessarily if you assume both that somehow the conditions of the big bang come back at the end of the universe AND events are perfectly deterministic. Then this would be true since each time the big bang happens everything occurs the same way

    philosophy anon here.

This isn't meant to be taken literally. Demons don't exist, and neesha would be the last guy to believe in them. The point of the "demon' literary device is to extract a specific attitude one has towards life:

Many people who live have the attitude of everything being transient towards a grand future. Per Neesha, this is wishful religious thinking, but it is an attitude born out of the despising of ones' life. This kind of person would scream at the horror of being forced to relive their life again and again.

On the contrary, if you truly love being alive, you would be overjoyed to relive your life over and over.

Importantly, this also reflects the reality of being alive. You never experience your death, or any sort of "lack" of life. You exclusively experience what you have. There is no comparison from any sort of "outside", or external world. Any comparisons you make about life would necessarily be made from within your life, while living (money, power, etc). So, your only two choices are to accept or deny the basic significance of your existence. And This is what the literary demon extracts.

This thought experiment doesn't make sense. If I don't have memory of my past lives then it's the equivalent of living my life once because well, it's going to feel like the first time every time. If I did have memory of my past lives, then that would drastically affect what I would do and what would happen.
