How can women all be reading the same 5 books?
I get the dynamics of influencers dictating the popular opinion and these influencers all copy each other when a book starts getting big
But when Im getting to know girls it still shocks me because its always like this:
>what are you reading anon?
>oh Im reading some Poe (I lied, I am reading an Ancient Indian essay on Aesthetics but I dont want to come out as autistic in the first date, or be perceived as an snob). What about you?
>Oh Im reading "The husband, the cook and the werewolf" and "Who killed Victoria Scarlettinna"
>Oh did you discover those books from TikTok and Instagram?
>Yes! How did you know?

Who cares what women read
If you still believe that what you see online is representative of the world you are underage or stupid. Your larp suggests the former but your post overall suggests the latter.
I talked with women dumbass, they read slop
>plotgay
Still could go either way.
you idiot. the point is you make her your girlfriend then you slowly mould her tastes over time to become like yours (this happens as a matter of course since women are empty vessels and take on the character traits of their men). that she is a reader at all is a positive and something you can work with
Women want to read the books that their friends are reading or that their book club has decided to read
If they don't have the above then they will want to read whichever books are best sellers
As someone with high autistic traits I cannot understand it
>I am reading an Ancient Indian essay on Aesthetics
Abinava is a fun read, Mark D just came out with a full translation of the Tantraloka that may or may not interest you.
>I am reading an Ancient Indian essay on Aesthetics
As an equally autistic student of classical Indian metaphysics, we are in the minority of the population.
A random sample of men in their twenties who read will reveal that the choices are equally slop, and we are all familiar with the 17 year-olds who discovered baby's first big boy literature reading list (e.g. McCarthy, Proust, Melville).
You and I are near the deep end of the pool.
I'd like some criticism of my view.
Is there a case to be made that literature isn't different from other arts in this regard? If a woman asks you for your favorite ballet or opera, is it a problem that most of us in this thread would only be able to name the five most popular works?
Nope.
We've been reading since we're young, so unless its the same slop over and over — we're bound to tread into the esoteric realm.
Point is, Literature is relatively more "open" to people compared to other arts. If you've been listening to operas since you were young, you definitely would have hot takes calling something under / overrated. You develop an ear as you consistently maintain the exposure.
Since this is a IQfy board consisting of pretentious people using their choice of books as viagra — you obviously were destined to come across books from the attic.
Classical Music or Ballet, on the other hand, are closed to most economically and culturally. Ballet does not even exist outside the borders enclosing crurophilic white boomers.
OK, thank you for the critique!
>We've been reading since we're young
I don't know if you're also in your early thirties and grew up offline but I don't think this is a safe assumption with the younger generations. Twenty year-olds who use TikTok for slop recommendations are reading more in a month than the twenty year-olds who use TikTok as sensory stimulation to stave off boredom are in a year. I don't think I know a younger coworker who reads entire news articles instead of scrolling through the comment sections of abridged video summaries.
This isn't to say that you're wrong. Reading is to zoomers as opera is to the average IQfy regular.
>Since this is a IQfy board consisting of pretentious people using their choice of books as viagra
>Ballet does not even exist outside the borders enclosing crurophilic white boomers.
If you had a blog, I would read it daily.
They're reading the same things with slightly different covers, there's no challenge, no novelty, no reference to previous literature. It's manufactured pop. They don't even have the frame of reference to make an informed statement beyond "I liked it". Throw them in the deep end and the more intelligent might not drown, but the rest are destined for Davy Jones locker.
The real IQfy shit test is throwing someone a stylist the way you'd throw them philosophy or to the wolves, where it references previous work in the canon as a matter of understanding it and enjoying it to the fullest extent. That's where you see if someone has taste and informed opinions. Recognizing that it isn't your field at all is an informed opinion, most would fail that.
>Recognizing that it isn't your field at all is an informed opinion, most would fail that.
Good points all around. I stay on this board for posters like you.
> Classical Music or Ballet, on the other hand, are closed to most economically and culturally. Ballet does not even exist outside the borders enclosing crurophilic white boomers.
Only pseuds say shit like this. There has never been a single moment in history where these music and performances are more accessible. Literally zero excuse to be such a tastlet
The difference is that I don’t make myself out to be some profound, intellectual opera or ballet connoisseur.
A lot of this is sample bias yeah. Men talk to women because they're cute. Men talk to men because they share values.
I genuinely don’t think most women can comprehend literature that isn’t YA shit or airport novel slop. Seriously, have you ever come across a woman who reads for pleasure and actually has good taste?
if you claim to get popularity and popular opinion why are you still shocked?
I dont care what others read really, I just don't know if I could really date someone who reads such different stuff as me; what genre of books someone enjoys feels like a reflection of their soul.
I do get miffed when someone is overly into existentialism but doesn't read any literature about it or other ways of living. instead they just constantly ask me "what's the point" or "does it even matter" while at the same time refusing to even try to change their way of thinking, or at the very least expand their knowledge on existentialism.
Because what 90% of women mean by “I like to read books” is “I like to read porn.” Almost every guy I know jerks off to the same dozen or so pornstars.
>almost every guy I know jerks off to the same dozen or so pornstars.
He spies on them. That's how he knows.
I prefer A Courts of breasts and Asses, A Court of Bobs and Vegene, A Court of Pussies and Clams, A Court of Milkers and Saggies, and so on.
Is there such thing as a IQfy friendly smut recommendation for a femoid?
Dirty enough that it will keep her little brain captivated, classy enough to think of you as refined/smart for recommending it?
There are no femoids, troony.
If you'd rather imagine talking with a troony than accept the presence of actual women in here, so be it.
took the meme seriously, femoid confirmed.
