it has a bunch of other privacy preserving features, and the Playlist feature allows me to listen to Youtube podcasts with my phone locked.

I've been pushing Brave for years now, it makes the big tech jeets on IQfy seethe HARD.

I have yet to see a valid critique of it on IQfy, most people make things up like pretending the crypto aspect is mandatory.

I think this is the only reason troony morons on IQfy rage against Brave. it's actually the best of the chrome based browsers by far

there's a bunch of shills and bots employed by Google (plus a couple of idoots who work for Google for free) who fud projects like Brave, yt-dlp and anything else that can cut into Google's profits.

They make claims such as that these pieces of software contain coin miners:
        https://desuarchive.org/g/thread/95811506/

Instead of using Brave or yt-dlp to watch youtube vids without ads, they try to shill YouTube Premium to you, they try to shame you by calling you a poorgay who can't afford YT premium.
They also try to steer you to use Firefox as the "safe" alternative to Chromium insteaf of Brave.
The reason is that Mozilla's business model depends on getting paid to set Google as the default search engine. When Firefox had 40% market share, the result was that Google became the behemoth it is today, because Firefox is just an on-ramp for Google products.

Brave also contains an adblocker and the abilty to open .onion websites without having to download any extension or a separate tor browser, making it possible even for moronic normies to use these things.
Google absolutely wants to prevent this because they depend on advertising revenue and selling their users' data, which tor and adblockers make much harder to do.

These shill bots are part of the same campaign as Google's current effort to sabotage adblockers on youtube.

you forgot (or deliberately ignored) the second part of my post, which is that the company's focus is split between crypto and actually improving the product. Which is why I'd rather use another browser that actually allocates resources to the right places.

            Anonymous

how is the company's focus split between crypto? Do you think crypto requires some weekly maintenance with devs working on it full time?
The only reason they're improving the browser is because they're being paid to do it by the people that care about the crypto part. If they were working for free, then the browser would have 5000 forks like firefox where they get nothing done.

if the end product is good though, why does it matter? I agree the crypto business model was sloppily implemented, but I give them credit for being forward thinking and trying to escape the overly invasive surveillance model of google and apple

            also brave is open source.
there's actually nothing stopping people from forking the browser and just removing anything related to crypto, but I don't think anyone has even done this because it's not turned on by default and they don't care.

      Anonymous

The crypto features are optional. I keep them disabled.

But they're built-in the browser, meaning they'd take unnecessary space on my computer. Also means some of the focus of the company is on cryptoshit instead of making the browser better.

It also has a password manager but I use an external one, and the ability to use a guest profile but I'm the only person who uses this machine. Unless you make the software yourself, or it only does one specific thing, there's always going to be features some users don't care about. It's not like these features take up huge amounts of space. Brave's install size is within a few percent of Chromium's. Some users do find those features appealing, so more features will drive more users, more revenue, better ability to work on the features you do care about. There's not some fixed amount of money to spend; it doesn't have to work as a zero-sum game across development threads.

legitimate arguments against Brave ITT: ZERO

100 posts in and not one sincere critique of it has been offered. this is why I autistically defend it, insincere arguments with no substance? am NOT ALLOW

it's the opposite. big tech shills have a script they follow. google and microsoft shills are the biggest on this board. read the posts referenced here:

      >why do brave shills all talk the same.
you're projecting. you forgot to include "cryptoshit" and "le shill lion" in your post, NPC:
      [...]
      >chromium crypto bloat
      [...]
      >crypto miner spyware and a scam by techbro oligarchs
      [...]
      >le shill lion
      [...]
      >Ok but I don't want cryptoshit
      [...]
      >reskin of a chromeshit

      [...]
      [...]
      [...]
after reading this i am completely dropping firefox, i didn't came herer for that, i just wanted to know if starting with phyton was a good way to learn coding, what a shame, i genuinely thought it was a better alternative to chrome

This isn't a social club, go shill your spyware back on vkontakte, subhuman.

its actually my secret clubhouse and you're not invited. return to reddit, homosexual (you won't deny having an account)

Should have spent more time paying attention in esl class Rajesh rather than looking for shitty hustles.

BTW - shilling a browser that literally sells your data to 3rd parties and pays you in next-to-useless memecypto is a shitty hustle.

          sorry. am not allow

I don't believe this is your concern at all. every other screenshot in the desktop thread has Chrome and you don't BAT(a crypto created by Brave Software, Inc. get yours now!) an eye

insincere and selective outrage with no awareness of Brave's alternative ad model? AM NOT ALLOW

I'm used to LibreWolf and don't have a reason to change browsers.
Though I have to wonder, what is OP gaining by shilling Brave?

      >what is OP gaining by shilling Brave?
exactly what you gain by "shilling" LibreWolf

I've used Brave before. No complaints with it other than sometimes an update breaks the ability to rearrange tabs. Never touched the crypto integration shit simply because I have no reason to. The built-in adblocker on mobile plus background play means I can listen to things on YouTube without having to go through Google's shitty paywall and that's good enough for me.

this is its "killer feature" for me. israelitegle thinks I'm going to actually pay for those features lmao

It just works. IQfy is full of firefox shills that worship mozilla and it's forks so it'll get hate. But there's a reason why it's growing so fast in numbers and recommended by literally any privacy oriented community/site and any eceleb. Give it a few years and when firefox finally dies and all the forks disappear because no man power, then everyone will be using brave since it's literally the best chromium option by far, and best non chromium option as well.

How the FRICK do you change instances / profiles in Brave mobile browser?? Somehow, I have an entire other instance of brave with dozens of older tabs that I opened, but I have no fricking clue how to switch between the two?? It seems to randomly switch and switch back when I open a link from text messasges or something. Can't reliably repro

DIDN'T BRAVE GET EXPOSED FOR PHONING HOME MULTIPLE TIMES, ALLOWING FACEBOOK TRACKERS BY DEFAULT, EXPOSING YOUR IP ADDRESS, PHONING HOME TO GOOGLE AS SOON AS YOU OPEN YOUR BROWSER, URL HIJACKING TO A BRAVE EMPLOYEE'S BITCOIN WALLET?

BRAVE SURE SPENDS A LOT OF TIME TRYING TO FINGERPRINT YOUR BROWSER EVERY TIME YOU OPEN IT BEFORE YOU EVEN GET A CHANCE TO DO ANYTHING, WITH NO ABILITY TO DISABLE THEIR BROWSER FINGERPRINTING TELEMETRY.

    >Sync feature that requires no account, just type in the generated key
You failed to mention the shit not working. Just installed it on my Xperia XZ1, configured some settings, added some feeds to Brave News, started a sync chain on Xperia XZ2, enabled sync everything. Apparently it doesn't sync a shit even after 2 hours of waiting.

Also the shit still not have a button to disable dark theme for site, simplify page option never show up, and can't show open tabs as list.
