They either lump him in with Freud (who was completely different) and dismiss him, or simplify his work with new age readings, or otherwise misunderstand or twist him to fit their narratives. But Jung is not the kind of thinker you can come to terms with like that. He's complicated and requires actual, intensive readings, as well as experience with the real phenomena about which he writes. And his quotes don't work well on their own.
