Getting a job while in uni for CS

Hi g, 2nd year CS out of 3 years in total. Really sick of uni wondering if anyone has experience with getting a junior dev job while in uni because I want to escape the slavery of doing random time consuming bs and paying for it.

I go to the best in my country (Straya) but idk if anyone will hire me without finishing a degree. I can talk about/show like 2 projects one of which is a CRUD messenger app and another which is an OOP app backend.

Any advice?

only dumb homosexuals can’t get a cs degree, you say you want to escape doing random time consuming bs, so what exactly do you think working is? just spend the 3 hrs a week it should be taking you to finish your assignments and play video games all day. quit being such a whinging homosexual

You don't know how moronic my uni is, I'm taking a subject now where weekly labs take 8 hours and some parts are like here's a method, refactor it so it is one line of code - it has like 2 nested for loops and conditions so you need to break your head making a stream just so it fits into one line. But why does it need to be one line?? You can't even read that shit it is so complicated, what if you needed to debug this fat one liner.

On top of this assignments are way harder than lecture content and you're told that you are not going to be "spoon-fed" content, this means they won't teach you anything but expect everything done to perfection. This just leaves me googling forever and it is basically impossible to finish an assignment because they give an insane amount of tasks to complete. I am not even lazy it is just made so that even the most turbo grinders can't finish.

I can't get any gov bux because in Australia you don't count as an adult for welfare until you move out and are like a 25 year old boomer. Up until then I think the cenno is assessed on your parents income. I literally can't become a NEET even if I want to, I also already have a job just its casual and not related to tech but I feel like squidward when working there and wouldn't work there forever.

it's age 22 you're independent from your parents income

Yep, regardless I am not planning on being a neet, I will join the military before I completely give up on life

Why? I am trying to do the best I can with the situation I have, what is worse than being a neet you are literally just existing.

Unironically if I could rewind back to like 15 years old I would just do this + a mindless trade and probably be happy.

      >take an abbreviated degree when all the good parts of any field come in the Senior level classes
      >can't even be assed to finish it
      >expects to be given a job anyway because "I mean it's just a Junior job and I can do CRUD"

      >Any advice?
Yeah, how about try a different field because if you can't even stomach the trivial, low-volume shit that schools throw out you then even if you get a job you're going to hate it.

I haven't met a single person who has found my university easy (for STEM courses) and on the reddit page for our uni the vast majority of posts is about how difficult it is/ how depressed people are/ no friends/ extreme stress and burnout. It is definitely not low volume if 99 ATAR turbo asians from selective and private schools are struggling who completely aced HS.

    Dont even bother.
You are not competent enough to make anything marketable.
    Just look for interships.

I often see job listings for jobs that require a degree in CS or 'near completion' or sometimes even 'in pursuit of the degree'. Given you're nearly in your last year I think there would definitely be some jobs you could start applying to.
I'm about to start a degree in CS and am planning on doing the same thing, getting work in the industry while still studying.

OP, I was in your boat about 3 years ago and I ended up getting a job while I was in my 2nd year of uni (out of 4, I studied CE) but I would advise against it. I slacked a lot in school because of the lack of free time. Going back I think the last semester would be a good time to start looking for a job.
