I once worked at a place where some guy was promoted to a department manager in charge of 30 people, then 2 years later he was demoted into a glorified janitor who’d walk around and try to find things that needed to be fixed. He spent an awful lot of time mowing the same lawn outside the building

A year later old job comes to me offering me a big pay package to come back. Felt shit to go "backwards" but it also got me out of hell. Not happy, but happier than I was.
