    >the ability to emulate NES and play MP3s

So, every computer since 1999? I mean I like Linux, but this is like the Amico Intellivision people bragging that their console can play Breakout.

Half of the things that e-celeb dicksuckers claim are "bad" games are actually some of the most enjoyable. Meanwhile GTA 5 and RDR 2 make me want to kick puppies with how boring they are.

            Anonymous

My uncle likes RDR 2. It looks pretty cool but not my thing.
GTA has never been my thing but the two number 9s meme is funny
I like future Mario installments, just not Super Mario Bros.
Actually I really liked Super Mario Bros. for a long time.
So maybe it's not actually bad, maybe I just got bored of it.
I'm really more of a toddler-tier pretty-colors-wholesome-story style gamer actually.
Love Celeste, Omori, Wandersong, Chicory, Crypt of the Necrodancer, all that good shit.
Undertale and Deltarune are pretty good too.
Basically every game that makes IQfy screech and cry about "muh trannies."
It's not like I play these games to epically own IQfy though. I just like them.

That's not my stance. My computer is incapable of running even average Steam games. I'm just pointing out that playing NES and listening to MP3s isn't impressive.

Show me something cool your distro can do or some cool project. Not something that lost all its novelty by 2004.

The funny thing is, as soon as you tell me (and quite proudly, I might add) that you primarily run Linux, I already know a ton about you. I know that you have no artistic ability -- that you're not into full-stack or front-end dev (no photoshop), you're not a photographer (no lightroom), and you're not into video editing (no premiere). I know you're not a software entrepreneur, as you would have needed full-stack development for that. I know you're not into remote collaboration with Google Drive (and Dropbox support is being ended soon). I know you're not an iOS developer (no XCode), or mobile developer at all (which generally requires Photoshop). I know you haven't honed your UX/product sense. Even if you dual-boot, I know you're in pain and will probably lose a bunch of data one day and have no idea what happened. You see that? In your search for "freedom," you have boxed yourself in like a caged rat.

I get the feeling this is copypasta bait but the funny thing is, as soon as you waffle about your platform being alpha&omega of xyz I install it in a VM, pass through a GPU, install xyz and then leave it running idle while doing everything better with freesoftware under Linux.

Not him but LAMP + HTML/CSS/JS is a full-stack environment.

The fact that you put such high value into all those lame activities tells me you have no actual programming skills. All you care about is high level frameworks and tools to help you do cool things. Meanwhile the actual programmers are building stuff from the ground up, a feat that takes way more creativity and skill than any sort of meddling around with your artistic programs and software tools.

Enjoy your front end “programming” lol

Just don't fall for the distrohopping meme, if you want to try another distro do it in a live environment or on another PC.
I don't do much tinkering with my install, I've got a few external PPAs added for newer kernel versions and new versions of mesa.
if you play games it might be a good idea to do that too, and add the gpu drivers PPA to get more up to date drivers for your nvidia GPU in your case.
I also have a few scripts to switch between my monitor and TV, some custom shortcuts, but overall it's the OS where I have to do the least amount of faffing about.
Installing Windows for someone else and setting it up feels like I've gone back in time with all the .exe hunting you've got to do, and both the freeware and the OS itself trying to trick you into doing something you don't want at every opportunity.

RetroArch can do a lot to mitigate input/display lag (using Vulkan with two max swapchain images, Run-Ahead, frame delay, etc.), though for best results, you'd ideally want to run it outside X.

I do not ignore linux as a desktop OS because I can't play games. Many games work on it.
I do not ignore linux as a desktop OS because it doesn't have good alternatives to certain production software. All I do can be done with simple tools, no need for adobe stuff.
I ignore linux because it has two overly shitty display servers that piss me off so much I really, really don't want to use it.

Yeah obviously it just works. Only pajeets want people to keep using Windows so they can ask them not to redeem. You never hear triple-digit IQ people moving back to Windows after using Linux. It's always the people who are dumb as a boot and couldn't even figure out how to change the default web browser. Pretty much the whole indian economy runs on these suckers being scammed at all times.

It's mostly a meme, but there are time when Linux Drivers just don't work with certain hardware. Also compiling your own apps is more annoying on Linux than anything else. I personally still use Windows for my main PC since certain applications only run on it even with WINE/Proton, but Linux is very good.
