I have a 6TB drive for visual media and surprisingly I still have 3.5TBs left. Takes longer to fill up than I thought. Now my porn drive.. 2TBs filled up in the span of four months. Worrying..

      I have a 42TB NAS, a 108TB NAS, 2x 1TB NVMe, 250GB SSD, and a 14TB HDD. Plus a bunch of flash drives of different sizes.

There must be some psychological compulsion for people to post like boomers whenever someone makes a shitpost. That's the true sign of an election tourist, the need to respond to shitposting in earnest.

what is the maximum number of drives for windows? it's not easy to find an answer

            Anonymous

i have never seen a true answer. searching just now found me basically nothing, except this https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/ddi/scsi/ns-scsi-_stor_addr_btl8 might be relevant. I have no idea if this is reflective of internal kernel limits, what kind of limits drives have, etc. and as usual msdn is garbage so I don't know what it means when it says '8 bit address' but then the address has an AddressLength, and 3 8 bit components. Based on this one page, the limit could be anywhere between 256 and 16777216. i saw some pages with people having problems when they approached 128. microsofts support website says the limit is 24 disks because A and B are for floppies, lol. other pages said 'if you have 4 sata connectors you can have 4 hard drives. I'm guessing any HBA supporting 1024+ devices doesn't even have drivers on windows so it probably doesn't truly matter. I'm surprised no one has tried to test it for fun though. Of course you'll saturate a bus somewhere before you hit the limit (unless it really is only 128 or 256!) but it would be interesting to see how many devices you can add before a software limitation

            >I'm guessing any HBA supporting 1024+ devices doesn't even have drivers on windows
any LSI HBA supports that many drives, and they have drivers built into Windows, like the SAS2008.

Alright, assume that typical coomer "career" would be from about 15 years old to around 40 before kys, old age or general wear&tear of equipment forces him to tone it down a bit. That makes it around 25 years of cooming.
A porn addict spends at least 11-12 hours per week looking at porn (source: https://psychcentral.com/blog/sex/2020/06/what-is-porn-addiction-compulsivity) which during the coomer career amounts to about 1,8 years total.
That amount of unique porn would only be about 12,4TB at HD quality, so that 14TB disc would be just right for a lifetime supply of porn. Give or take.

This is going to happen I guarantee it. Set up your digital archives of niche shit you enjoy now, before they're gone forever. Popular media will be easy to pirate forever imo since the countless digital hoarders before us already have them hosted and seeded.

also 98 didn't really start that, windows 95 was more than twice the size of 3.1, 95 was something like 50MB for a standard install of the first edition, while 3.1 is about 13MB

The drawback is these Black folk have forgotten how to compress their shit. Ridiculous how we have games pushing 500GB. I shat my pants when I pirated that backstreet boys final gaytasy and it was 100GB before installation

I stopped hoarding, so now all my stuff fits in a 2TB drive, but I keep deleting stuff like movies, anime and series because I never watch them again. Currently putting the info of some images like infographics in text files instead. I've optimized all my images to decrease the size and maintain quality. The biggest things I have is 650GB of FLAC music, tons of roms and the Bibliotheca Alexandrina+ some other books, which could be smaller if people optimized the images. I would re-zip all the archives, but would only gain about 20 bytes each.
We could set for better codecs and formats right now, but most places don't support them yet, like jpegxl.
Everything is bloat nowadays because people take internet speeds, being up and content availability for granted.

I'm gen-x so have stuff all the way from the 90s.
It all fits on 4tb drive including 20 years of work files and emails.
      I do re-compress videos from drones/cameras tho.

Nice. I'm a zoomer, but all of my stuff from 2005ish-2023 fits on a 4TB drive as well. I keep all of my movies and TV shows on a separate 1TB SSD which has like 500GB free. I don't understand how people need to have a NAS or some shit to store their 100TB of goon material, it's moronic.
