i have, and if i recall i was 19 or 20. Hobbes being the culprit, though agitated by a generous dose of psilocybin

In other words you got drug induced psychosis at the same time you happened to be reading Hobbes.

correct, and the delusions had a distinct Hobbesian quality

It’s not possible to get psychosis from philosophy. Most philosophy “schizos” were either already schizophrenic or are just hyperaphantasic magical thinkers who probably don’t even read real philosophy, or they’re autists who happen to have their special interest in esotericism. If you are actually getting psychosis, it would be extremely difficult to even read a book.

hmm maybe psychosis is the wrong word to use - perhaps I was thinking more like depersonalization

yeah a little, ever since sometimes I start to panic when thinking about any existential topic and I have to tell myself to stop thinking.
Never in my life I've previously tried to escape from my thoughts.

We're dealing with it right now.
"Woke" is cultural Marxism where class has been replaced with identity.
As you can see from reading the news, that leads to a LOT of psychosis.
For example, I remember when sterilizing the mentally ill was illegal and considered unethical.
    Now, it's "stunning and brave".
I could go on, but this isn't /misc/.

What does that have to do with philosphy? Or trannies? Why would that be the first thing to come to your mind even? Do you at least realize you're actually a good example of psychosis induced by anti-wokeism, and just as a midwit as the victims of wokeism you decry? Right down to the fetishization of Dostoevsky, one of the forefathers of the Russkiy mir who birthed and spread the cultural Marxism. Simping for prostitutes and making excuses for criminals and their subhuman behavior isn't Woke anymore when you do it because of Christianity?

Yeah, it just means its not for you. The people that can handle philosophy have a mechanism or a sort of "main character syndrome" that neatly separates them from the matter of their work. You have no such mechanism and realize that your ass is squarely on the line. All you can do is quit and let the questions fade. For some people, the joy of finding things out turns to the horror of finding things out. Good luck!

Or people that can 'handle' philosophy are just too weak to undergo psychosis

yeah a little, ever since sometimes I start to panic when thinking about any existential topic and I have to tell myself to stop thinking.
Never in my life I've previously tried to escape from my thoughts.

Stop panicking and embrace the terror

    >Personal experience

Metaphysics is most fricked up thing i encountered in my life. People tend to think of it as a dead end nowdays unknowingly holding certain metaphysical belifes. The danger of it is that since everything else is built on assumptions from metaphisycal thinking (what is nature of the reallity..) if you have some inherent fundamental idea constructing your metaphysical worldview, it will frick you up for good.
Iow. The story we tell ourselfs about the world is the story we live (this is very underrated statement).
Now.. epistemology.. oh man.. if metaphysics is fricked up this one is that times 10. For it questions the very experience of reallity it self.. questioning criteria for determining truth etc.. epistemology is compass that tells you where North is and you better have that compass firm and precise or you will end up falling from cliff.
Ethics.. they by product of these two.. depending on what you hold as metaphysical and epistemological belifes, the criteria you have to guide you trough reallity, will determine your ethical views and with that again you have potential danger.

Dont take me wrong.. philosophy is not necesserely bad thing but it can destroy you.. and i mean that ltrly..

Some people who are doing philosophy out of funn (people who hold firmly their assumptions without questioning them) will not be in danger.
People who are prone to questioning things, updating criterias, heavy reflections will probably atleast once have break down. Anyone who once lost his map to reallity knows this.
(This ofc does not mean one type of people is smarter then others, it is just logical consequance of questioning the very tool u use to navigate life).

So in a sense, there can be non-organic induced psychosis caused by philosophy. Idk if it is rare or not, i see some anon mentioned mechanisms

I mean.. look at kids who read Nietzsche (altho lets be real they dont understand him fully).. theyr view of reallity (nihilistic) is rarely a good determinatior of behavior.

      Edit:
      >Idea that is not matching reallity (in asense it says about it more then there is in reallity)

Less emotional, or at least i am less a slave to emotions, and more prone to use reason instead of impulse. I am talking about Stoic philosophy btw.
