Read meditations, it was incredible
Had to read the alchemist in high school, it wasn’t as bad as people on this board make it out to be. It made 18 year old me feel a little motivated so I suppose it did it’s job
The Alchemist is pretty cliche and cheap. I think that's the problem most people that have a problem with it have with it: it feels like commercial, mass produced fiction.

Have you read these books?
I know this is bait but I'll bite for the sake of the newbies: Laws of Human Nature, Deep Work, Meditations and Mastery are the only good ones.
About the others: >12 Rules for Life
Self help, can be useful if you're very young or very lost in life. If you're more mature then the advice in it can possibly do more harm than good. >The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck
Anecdotes about which no one gives a frick and commonplace advice. You'd waste less time talking with a boomer at a bar. >Can't hurt me
Same as 12 Rules. >7 Habits of Highly Effective People
Fails to take into account so many important things that the book is practically useless. >Outwitting the devil, Principles
Nothing you can't learn in a video or in a post. >Models
Same as Subtle Art of Not Giving a Frick + nothing you can't learn from a video/post.
>The subtle art of not giving a f*ck
Words cannot describe how much I despise this book title. There's no shortage of "not giving a frick" in our society. If you're looking for self-improvement, learn how to start giving a frick. The fact that people want to learn how to give even less of a frick than they already give exemplifies everything that is wrong with modern society.
Books designed to make you a slave or a slave master.
Not one actual insight in the lot.
Their popularity speaks volumes to how far the npc culture has come.
Any list that lumps Peterson together with The Alchemist seems about right.
Only the center two. It’s all pretty much useless. I used to read a lot of self-help and all it did was make me more annoying to be around.

>Paulo Coelho
I wish I hadn't.

I hold the opinion that all of these books are garbage and will not change a fricking thing in your psyche if you read them. Prove me wrong.

>napoleon hill
that dude was full of shit and a con artist. self help books are dogshit peddled to morons with zero self esteem
Laws of human nature is next. Havent heard of pricnipals yet. Gonna get it right now.
Add in some secular meditation books and “Eat That Frog” and you could rename this wageslavecore.
I’ve read 5 of those books and waaay more self help and this is a pretty shit list ngl
Subtle Art of Not Giving a Frick was a giant waste of time. I hope the author dies a painful death.
Is Meditations really that good? It's always tech bros that talk about this shit and they're usually the biggest NPCs
skip the first row and it’s a pretty good list
if you read self help books you're ngmi
I hate all these books except for the big JP's 12 rules to life, it's actually good in my humblest of opinions.
Probably more effective if you read the Meditations 12 times than any of the other trash in the chart.
