Heat pump monkey making theory

Okay so heat pumps just move heat from the outside to inside right
so like
hear me out
what if
some guy who is rich
he goes " hey"
and buys a bunch of heat pumps
and then he make a big heat pump factory right
so he turns on all the heat pumps when it's cold
and then the pumps start pumping heat from the outside
into like a giant heat battery or something like i dunno dirt or some fricking thing
and then like
it's really cold outside.
and then he just sells the heat back to people because they are cold
Where is the flaw in my plan?
I am the rich guy btw

    forget about it
it would make much more sense to generate electricity using solar panels, store it in batteries and sell it locally to people at a cheaper price for kilowatt hour than what they'd pay for infrastructure electricity

But how do i make monkey then if it costs more

solar panels aren't and they don't last very long moron

Anon, if heat batteries existed we wouldn't be wasting so much energy on regulating temperature
Actually I'm concerned with how small minded your application of magic scifi technology is. Heat batteries that can store heat for months would be ridiculously valuable technology if it was ever invented

"practical" was implied, anon. Boiling water in a kettle is a heat battery too but I'm not denying the existence of kettles. Anon wants to store heat in the summer and distribute it in the winter.
If you know of a mechanism that stores any meaningful quantity of thermal energy for ~6 months with no leakage please explain, I'd love to learn something new

It's called thermal power station, except it also produces electricity.
Heat pumps require a lot of electricity and cannot generate a high temperature efficiently so they are only good for heating well insulated buildings, sending this heat further is not really an option.

    heat pumps are trash
for half the country if you have a heat pump you will also need a back up heat source because they dont work for shit below freezing

This can be mitigated pulling heat from underground. If you place a refrigerant or water line below the frost line, you can heat even in below zero weather, but the method isn’t common outside of Europe and it’s more expensive than a typical heat pump install.

yeah we dont do that here
here in massachusetts we have an energy saving program that will give you a 10% rebate if you rip out a perfectly functioning heating system and replace it with bullshit heat pumps
        its hysterical

If your area regularly experiences below 0 temperatures, typical heat pumps aren’t the best option. The underground method works very well, and you get the benefits of increased efficiency, but without it even modern heat pumps don’t function very well below 0. Older ones struggle below 15C

whats even better is you dont even qualify for the rebate unless you specifically rip out your existing system, so you cant use it in tandem
and they want every home in the state to fricking do this
the people who run mass save who should be shot into space

Yeah, that’s pretty dumb. Where I live basically no-one has central heating anyway and the buildings were until recently built for the wrong climate (no clue why, but then again people here build houses vertically sometimes on the side of cliffs). But it’s either a fireplace, numerous electric heaters or a heat pump here, the only furnace system I’ve ever run into was actually wood-fired as opposed to gas.
