has nothing to do with copyright infringement. they simply don't want people to use them to play emulated games. they want you to BUY games from their garbage stores. they don't want to you to play games for free because they don't get any money out of it.

Malicious prosecution to ruin the developers with legal fees. Yuzu would have "eventually" won the case (if they didn't run out of money first) but settled out of court to avoid being subjected to that.

If they "would have eventually won the case" then they could have had the other part pay legal costs.
Well... assuming American law courts are like other common law courts where that is nearly assumed (not quite, you have to put "save as to costs" with discovery shit from memory).

In burgerville it depends on what the lawsuit is about and even then it's at the judge's discretion.
            >if they didn't run out of money first
If you run out of money you can wind up without a lawyer and then you're going to lose even if you "should" win.
If you lose you're not going to get reimbursed.

You'd think it would be, but I was saying that "in theory".
In practice you need initial legal advice (good legal advice) to actually find out about that shit in the first place. So it's completely impractical to the poor that think they'll never cover the costs if they went into debt.
Though frankly, you are riding on the assumption that your case will succeed. And if it's judge discretion - well you're shit out of luck regardless and taking a risk of having to pay the debts if you lose your case.
Oh and this is not taking into account the likelihood of failing with your formal legal particulars, documentation and limitations.

So it's not much worse than the US system.

You see this isn't a problem when you have an actual authoritarian regime and not just a mere cartel.
Though then you have the problem of just competing against the state full stop.
Oh and when they start to work with corporations - well you're powerless then.

Oh yeah it's horrible. The system is supposed to prevent outside interference and corruption (nobody really believes that, fyi) but just makes it so the deepest pocket has the best chances.

The bulk of US law work is knowing which papers to file for which particular thing happening in court, when to file them, and having the money to pay the fees which for some reason can be multiple hundreds of dollars when the work done with the paper filing is 15 minutes of a person's time.

Not in the US, awarding legal fees to the defense is extraordinarily rare in any country descending from British Common Law. It can happen, but only if the judge deems that the entire lawsuit was without any merit and was only brought to court to waste everyone's time.

They want you to be forced to buy their console every x years and forced to buy new copies of a game you've already bought two, three, who knows how many times in perpetuity.

You see, I was a child when by luck a parent bought me a game boy color and pokemon blue. I have no receipt, I no longer own the hardware or physical game, and I can't prove that I have a legitimate right to emulate the game.
Despite I know I owned it.
Nintendo expects to be my lord and demand I buy a Wii, a switch, a DS, a switch 2, whatever going down the line as time goes on, and expects me to pay $20, $30 for a game I've already bought, until the end of my life.

You will own nothing and the Big Corporation will continue to take your money.

Speaking of emulators, I have an easyRPG maker one to play yume nikki and a snes for chrono trigger, ff3, illusions of gaia, secret of mana, and smrpg seven stars. I threw them on there thinking I would play them again when I was bored but that hasn't happened in the years they've sat there. Thanks bro, looks like you need AltStore and some tweaking with pc or mac, i'm afraid it's too much and i really try not to install much stuff in my old trusty iphone SE 2016. Don't they have some emulator on TestFlight since i already have this for Chance?
