        >Sally Rooney's books aren't stories. They are simply descriptions of uninteresting posh people who attended Trinity College, Dublin.
        >Sally Rooney is essentially an irish writer who writes for people who have never actually had a proper conversation with an irish person of any class.
        >I get writing unlikeable characters, but when they're also uninteresting, that's just unfortunate.
        >Right now in Ireland, Sally Rooney is a Popstar and I don't get it. I slog my way through her work and all I can appreciate is how aesthetically unique her style of writing is. But that's not enough.
        >I am reading through her work and as an irish person, a dublin native, i start to think - this isn't even a story. This is just a description of people I know... - Posh, pretentious Trinity College graduates who bask in in melodrama. And this....This is being called the future of contemporary Irish Literature.
        >Listen, Irish literature has always thrived on The Absurd. After 100+ years of colonialism, Ireland at some point relished in the weirdness and the absurdity of existence. Flan O'Brien or Samuel Beckett
        >Sally Rooney's work definitely is absurd to be fair, but for all the wrong reasons.

She isn't terrible but her novels aren't memorable. I can't reflect on any themes from Conversations with Friends a couple of months after reading it--it pretty much was a hypersensitive femcel fricks Chad (whose also insecure and therefore vulnerable) story. Certain scenes/sections still stick out though (e.g. the self-harm/illness stuff and the vacation to France).

Comfy read but all the hype was moronic and fueled by nonsense.

You keep doing that, troon. Everyone on this board knows it's the McCullers-Trooney-Newburyport mentally ill troony shitting up the board. Maybe you should spend less time on IQfy and more time trying not to be a disappointment to your mother -- although she would not be surprised that her loser of a child got duped into posting their med shelf on a basket weaving forum
