>horror story from nosleep or other similar communities
>plot twist and premise is spoiled by an overly descriptive title
>real example: “The time traveler who saved my life”. The story is written in a way that the mysterious man actually being a time traveler is supposed to be a surprise, but it’s not because of the title

Why? Why do people do this? It takes so much away from the story it’s not even funny. It’s really irritating when the story itself is really well done, and the title is the only issue.

One of many reasons I hate r/nosleep.
Have you read their rules for posting?
All the things your story can't contain?
    It's fricking madness.
I posted 7 stories to r/nosleep, and all were removed for one threadbare reason after another.
One was actually removed because my story dared to express emotions other than fear at any time. Seriously.
    r/nosleep can kiss my ass.

I don't browse nosleep, though I like to fall asleep listening to some of the nosleep stories that get narrated on YouTube. I don't find that most of the titles contain egregious spoilers personally. They do strike me as a bit overly descriptive, though. It reminds me of those 18/19th century books with the super long titles. I suppose when stories have those kinds of titles, it's much easier to decide whether you want to spend your time reading it. And because it's the trend, people will want to do it, but naturally, some people will overdo it and end up including too much in the title.

If a story needs a plot twist or a surprise to be interesting it's not a good story anyway.

people suck dick at writing horror. even the best classic creepypastas are usually old stories i heard at camp in boy scouts from a guy that learned them 40 years earlier. putting the reddit writing style on top of a genre that's already difficult is like putting ricin in dogshit
