with all that post processing, filtering and temporal antialiasing with frame injection or whatever magic it actually is.
if youre gaming you are using X11 or Xwayland which both make sandbox escape trivial in flatpak due to inherent issues with sandboxing X11 socket.
Flatpak is some sandboxing but it fails to use the majority of security features that bubblewrap has available due to trying to make applications not choke because they dont expect to be sandboxed
there isnt an option to game on pure wayland yet as wine hasnt completed its wayland transition and most native games use older SDL versions and dont work in or have a wayland mode.
Using a wayland session doesnt suddenly make X11 applications use wayland, they still use X11 through Xwayland and you cant easily make older applications without active support use wayland.

Wine already has a Wayland driver that you can enable >They still use X11 through Xwayland
Thankfully Xwayland works as a Wayland client so it can't snoop on native Wayland programs like your web browser, etc.

they do but its not finished yet, the transition likely wont be done till later this year and Proton wont see it till probably 2025.
While Xwayland applications cant snoop on Wayland applications they can on other X11 applications and it allows for Flatpak sandbox escape unless you prevent access to the X11 socket which only works for Wayland native applications.

DE devs live in a bubble where they hack on code they don't use to replace things they don't understand. I think everyone knows this about Gnome, but the amount of obvious regressions in Plasma 6 (and 5 on launch) makes it obvious that blue systems has the same cancerous "designer" culture. >sandboxing
Xephyr and Xpra are older than wayland. Ironically the lack of a common use case for screen sandboxing is why wayland was able to pretend it was revolutionary by including it in the core protocol.
The point of Wayland was so GNOME devs could cuck KDE devs.
Don’t really care for GNOME but cucking KDE is based.
Miss me with that buggy POS.
Gnome and wayland devs hate each other. It's not inaccurate to call wayland an extension of KDE at this point. They do most of the actual protocol work while freedesktopers jerk off over the perfect wording of xml files, specifying protocols they will never implement.

You'd be surprised but the most RCE one finds is in multiplayer FPS games like CS:GO. Source engine is notoriously buggy.
I think its due to mulditue of factors, one being crunch time for video game devs, they dont give a frick about the code, they just need it to ship as soon as possible. If you want to look for expensive RCEs you want to sell, go for video games that have a sane netcode protocol that you can emulate or at least inject packets from a modified client.
I hope that people quit writing C++ and switch to rust as soon as possible.
What makes you think Rust would prevent these kinds of RCEs? A lot of these poorly tested networking features and 3D rendering require inherently unsafe code to work. Don't give Rust to game devs, you'll end up with this regardless. Or do so that we can kill the safe Rust meme.
Since you don't use your gayming PC for anything important just make a clean image-based backup and your next reload will be easy.
If the first thing you did after learning PC basics was not troubleshooting/backup/how to stay online if your system shits you should do that before your childish game.
Learn how to boot a live Linux or WinPE OS to recover files and get online if your main OS dies. You have time to waste since you have time to game.
I still kek. Despite all the dumb Black person homosexual money wasted on "end point security" software and anti-cheat, none of it actually prevents cheating or malware.
Why hasn't Microsoft put an end to this kernel malware bullshit anyhow? What stable NT interface do these shitty malware anti cheats and ~~*security*~~ modules use? Microsoft could stop all this tomorrow by explicitly denying all non-ms kernel modules or modules not explicitly (re)signed by Microsoft WHQL labs.
Also, Microsoft needs to provide easy to use sandboxing or MAC so games can't just consume everything in your %UserProfile%
>denying all non-ms kernel modules or modules not explicitly (re)signed by Microsoft WHQL labs.
They do, dumbass, you need to mod your os that leave a permanent watermark explicitly saying you did so
They don't, some legit signed modules from other companies are flexible enough than cheat and virus makers use to load their payloads. No need to sign your own code.
Automated process propped up by workers who aren't played to care. Those keys leak all the time and get replaced slowly.
I want to say nvidia's dev key got popped during that Lapus "hack" a while back, but memory is fuzzy. If there is any breach itnis the first thing to go as it is untraceable and usually widely distributed in the dev team. Usually this shit is in an open share folder marked keys.
I still kek that despite laws, law enforcement, the military industrial complex, we still have crime TOP KEK. We should just get rid of it all because it historically just DOESN'T WORK
Also, I still KEK because after 30 years you've still never touched a vegana LMAO
It doesn't need to be that complicated, phones solved this issue with their permissions system, games should simply require PERMISSION to make changes and read data from your system.

Actual hackers steal credentials, crypto, ransomware your pc or other money gathering shit, why would they install a cheat for a fricking game?
It looks to me that the latest cheat everyone uses is exposing them and now they are blaming the game itself to cover their asses.
I fricking hope they are called out and ban every "pro" gamer out there for their lies.
>install highly intrusive, high privilege software with dogshit security on millions of users' devices >malicious hackers exploit it >"how could this have possibly happened to us?!"
As with Genshin Impact's Anti Cheat being used by ransomware, Im only surprised it took them this long to use this attack vector.
Because they're fricking cheating lmao. "pro" gamers almost all cheat. They load actual malware onto their computers and then get surprised when the sketchy russian they paid $300 for cheats decides to frick them over.
>Competitive professional gaming e-sports getting shat on

I wouldn't be surprised if they had those cheats on their PCs and the cheat dev wanted to expose that.
They all cheat man.
Think about Counter Strike. Any try hard sweater can play at a pro level. E-sports brings in a lot of popularity and money into the game which benefits both Valve and the pro gamers that make hundreds of thousands from merch, tournaments, and streaming. The amount of blatant clips should make it obvious professional CS is about as real as professional wrestling. The cheat enhanced gameplay makes for better entertainment assuming viewers don't know that's what they're watching. They all fricking cheat.
>The damage one company caused to PC gaming is unreal

this. these homosexual "pros" have been cheating in apex since the beginning. there's a billion videos of these people doing 180s and shooting through walls yet the kiddies won't accept they cheat because their a streamer. this is them being exposed by the same person making their cheats.
>SAAAR THE 14 YEAR OLD CHEATER TELEPATHICALLY ALTERED MY PC IN A COMPLETELY SECURE ENVIRONMENT
how fricking gullible are people?
The Apex Legends players were hacked through an RCE (Remote Code Execution) exploit that was abused during the game. The exploit allowed hackers to inject cheats into streamers’ machines, potentially leading to ransomware attacks that could lock up the entire PC. The issue raised concerns about the safety of Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC), the anti-cheat software used by Apex Legends and other games. The North American esports final was postponed due to the hack, which compromised the competitive integrity of the series. Players affected by the hack were advised to perform a clean reinstall of their operating system and to secure their personal information12345.
>it's not the cheats that contain a RAT 95% of the time, it's the anti-cheat from the reputable company!
Gee, I wonder who is trying to spread this narrative.
It's not useless, it prevents a large amount of cheating. There are no anti-cheats that are going to snuff out the streamers who pay monthly for a custom undetectable cheat.
It's valveBlack folk pushing this bullshit. They're constantly screeching about EAC and Vanguard because VAC is a flaming heap of garbage that only bans legit players while letting cheaters run wild in CS2
>Currently, the RCE is being abused to inject cheats into streamers machines
"Do you guys ever get that weird glitch in CSGO where it shows everyone's rank? Wtf Clara, why the frick is this on my computer right now"
If someone actually had discovered an RCE, wouldn't it make more sense to ransom as many as possible instead of just trolling some prominent streamers? Those affected probably have shit opsec and gave the "hackers" access ages ago. I do however wish this to be true because frick any kind of client side AC.

So you're dropping the pretense of "it's just for fun"? You're a coward and a hypocrite because you'd be spinning a sob story if someone ruined your life by planting false evidence on you.
Adding to what the other anon said, the hackers took direct responsability by hijacking the streamers' chat box to make them they've been pwned by the two hackers in team chat, plus cheating in an Esports event held by the official Apex people isnt exactly easy.
And when one of the hackers got poked about it he was open to answering stuff >yup we did it >not client side, rce >[popular Apex mod framework] isnt to blame for it
Funnily enough I see little heat towards the hackers either. Majority seem to be in agreement that its Apex Devs' fault for being such smooth brains. Imagine running a godamn esports event and using main servers instead of airgapping shit in an intranet lmao.
Has that screenshot actually been confirmed to be the guy who supposedly did this? Because literally anyone can name themselves anything in a chat and say anything, a screenshot of it isn't evidence of anything.
I don't understand how it happened. Is it a network injection, using a vulnerability in Apex Legends?
Because then it means the anti-malware itself isn't at risk. If I have it on my computer, nothing bad will happen if I don't download random malwares or if I don't run a vulnerable program (such as Apex Legends).
But anyway, this reminds me that I should have a machine dedicated to gaming... Or like two different hard drives maybe.
idk much about apex, but it's not the first time the source engine would have a rce, more likely than the anticheat imo
it's also possible that these pro players were already cheating and the hacker used that to pwn them.
either way it goes to show how effective kernel anticheat is kek
I don't know how I should feel about Valve. On the one hand, they're not as actively shitty as their competition, invest in Linux and they have made some of the best video games of all time, but on the other hand they did or at the very least created a catalyst for some of the worst trends in modern gaming.
>The damage one company caused to PC gaming is unreal
It's a shame. Valve knows what they're doing.

CS is overrated and I wish that mod for Half-Life was never created. On top of that, it was the worst mode that became the most popular. Narrow lanes, forced chokepoints, basic movement and shooting, same fricking popular map played for decades.
And don't get me wrong, Half-Life isn't terrible but going back and revisiting them you can see how bland the series is.
I had a lot of fun with Black Mesa and decided to replay HL2 because I'd only played it once when it was new, and it was a weird experience because the controls, shooting and everything are still great and you sort of forget you're playing a 20 year old game until there's some reminder like they do something to show off the physics or you encounter a mechanic that didn't take off like having a squad of npcs follow you. The whole thing has a little bit of a tech demo vibe looking back now, maybe that's where the perception of blandness comes from. Honestly when I play it I feel vaguely sad more than anything because it feels so optimistic with new at the time tech compared to corporate, homosexual modern games
>but on the other hand they did or at the very least created a catalyst for some of the worst trends in modern gaming.
just don't engage with those parts. I don't get it.
lmao naive kids saying bullshit so they don't see the truth about their imaginary internet friends being fricking cheating losers is hilarious.
yes they cheat, yes its easy because tournament organizers are moronic, yes they played online from their own home so everyone who had the cheat installed got exposed by cheat maker.
Even if there was a lan tournament the IT responsible for the machines are dumbasses who can't into proper endpoint security and firewall restrictions, there is video of chinks with cheats called word.exe
>2 players get remote controlled during a live tournament >social media reporters go wild >make it sound like its still happening >make it sound like everyone is vulnerable >blame the anticheat and the game
2 guys got hacked! maybe they clicked a link or plugged in a USB that someone left in their mailbox
It 100% is what happened. The stranger thing to me is that the "cheat police" or whatever the frick immediately jumped to their defense. Not that I would expect some literally who to have integrity, but why did they jump to that conclusion so fast?
How do you even send malicious payloads in a server authoritative game with no community servers?
Since when Source Engine has peer-to-peer communication?
I believe these people installed some hacking software on their computer and then it got activated accidentally, maybe they hit some hotkey or the program auto-updooted and turned itself on seeing the user was playing.
The idea that someone remotely trough the game server got it installed on their computer and then turned it on on opportune moment is ridiculous.
On both videos the players are playing on their own pcs in their own rooms, not on some tournament pc.
>players were using cheat software >said software had hidden payloads >payload deploys and all the bigboy apex players play the "UHHH IT WAS RCE I DINDU NUFFIN DIDN'T INSTALL CHEAT SOFTWARE" card to save face
That's about it.
>Thinks he's getting trolled >Throws an adult temper tantrum >n-no you didn't!
Honestly, best case scenario is happening before my eyes. Thanks for making my day, loser.
The hacker has confirmed access to EA servers and has flaunted it publicly multiple times, so that checks out. It seems pretty likely to me that EA never fixed those RCEs because they just assumed nobody would be able to use them because of their closed source authoritative servers -- but then shitty security practices let some random chucklefrick get in and now they've got this shit on their hands.

this guy always talks out of his ass non stop. if you had access to the server you could do a lot more than that to troll streamers.
The average streamer is so technologically illterate they can barely start OBS without the help of someone else. They downloaded a RTLO fdp.exe and gave some skid admin access to their computer
i chose to believe these streamers were closet cheaters and no rce where used in either apex, ac, or steam
only an in-depth writeup will change my mind
its insane that people are like >this rce that could be sold and exploited for millions of profit was instead used to ruin an apex legends online tournament instead of to install cryptominers on everyone who uses the software. yeah that's completely logical
is somehow accepted as the most likely reason. actual brain damage

While Xwayland applications cant snoop on Wayland applications they can on other X11 applications and it allows for Flatpak sandbox escape unless you prevent access to the X11 socket which only works for Wayland native applications.
wait, but if you can isolate x programs without breaking the protocol, then what was the point of wayland in the first place?
The point of Wayland was so GNOME devs could cuck KDE devs.
Don’t really care for GNOME but cucking KDE is based.
Miss me with that buggy POS.
Gnome and wayland devs hate each other. It's not inaccurate to call wayland an extension of KDE at this point. They do most of the actual protocol work while freedesktopers jerk off over the perfect wording of xml files, specifying protocols they will never implement.
>laughs in security-through-obscurity
I hope this exploit is impossible to patch, and I hope more exploits like it are found throughout all video games.
Video games disappearing won’t fix your life.
Of course not, I don't play video games. It would fix the lives of tens, if not hundreds, of millions of people, though.
so they could waste time posting here instead like you...?
Based
No sympathy for gamers
A functional government would have banned this shit by now
It should be literally illegal
>A functional government would have done exacly what I want to happen
You also think the government is gonna solve you being single if you complain hard enough, don't you
>vidoegames BAD
>I am very adult and mature and traditional read siegepilled
If they banned vidya, those people would just waste their time on social media and other consoomer shit like you. You are a brainlet trying to attack the symptoms of the problem instead of the root. Create better incentives to participate in society.
>You are a brainlet trying to attack the symptoms of the problem instead of the root
The "symptom" has grown so much that it became its own "root." Of course, I could say that about anything that would only exist in a world where you're free to perpetuate your adolescence indefinitely.
Sorry gramps, expecting people to spend all day busting their ass for paper money rapidly declining in value, an evaporating future, and a slore with a double digit body count who expects men to fund their existence isn't cutting it anymore. Create better incentives or kindly frick off.
>muh incentive
The world doesn't exist to give you a cookie for "adulting."
>lol old
>lol tv
0 for 2.
>The world doesn't exist to give you a cookie for "adulting."
Society does thoughever. Societies that fail to dispense the cookie do not exist for long, you can check any section of any world history book for proof
I thought you were capable of playing video games and having a functioning adult life. Well, no I didn't, but that's what you all keep saying.
>lol old
Are you done yet?
>The world doesn't exist to give you a cookie for "adulting."
So you expect people to work hard for no reward? You're not entitled to other people's time, boomer
>The world doesn't exist to give you a cookie for "adulting."
in the same way i don't exist to prop up your social security retirement and housing market
but you do and you don't have much use beyond that
not gonna give me a cookie? i'm not gonna prop you up. shrimple as.
market forces, baby.
yeah but you still do
>you NEED to work for suboptimal reward, whos gonna fund my retirement, Black personMAN HELP MEEE
t. brainfried boomer who sat in front of the tv in all of his free time
You'd be surprised but the most RCE one finds is in multiplayer FPS games like CS:GO.
Or do so that we can kill the safe Rust meme.
>rust
Not usable in systems level software, the automatic memory management produces electrical infetterence
>Rust
>in video games
nope
>bro just mark the global scope unsafe
They do, dumbass, you need to mod your os that leave a permanent watermark explicitly saying you did so
so why does Microsoft sign literal malware?
It doesn't need to be that complicated, phones solved this issue with their permissions system, games should simply require PERMISSION to make changes and read data from your system.
tf2 was the last good multiplayer game.
>old slop good
>new slop bad
yes
unironically yes. They haven't discovered casino mechanics and troony moderators yet
tf2 literally pioneered gambling bullshit im video games, wether it be the lootcrates, mann vs machine drops, or maybe you're talking about actual game mechanics such as random damage spread, or random crits
and if you want to avoid the random bullshit you go play on uncletopia servers, which is full of trannies, so how about you take off your Black person tinted glasses and see things for how they truly are
Pseudorandom crits. If you're doing well the RNG loves you more. This is one reason why medics who pull out their saw after healing for a while are more dangerous than expected for spies/scouts.
I always suspected that lol
they literally told us that
yeah forgive me for not precisely remembering the details about a game from 2007
I haven't played it besides once or twice out of curiosity since 2011 or so and it does still have a shitton of players and you can easily find a game, and sometimes it's even still normal TF2 and not some weird bullshit map or mod. The competition is pretty intense though cause these homosexuals have been playing the game for almost 2 decades (or they're cheating)
>sometimes it's even still normal TF2 and not some weird bullshit map or mod.
Just queue for the game modes you want to play you colossal moron
>The competition is pretty intense though cause these homosexuals have been playing the game for almost 2 decades (or they're cheating)
In pubs? It really isn't. Most of them are as awful as you.
actually it was SS13
I miss TF2 so much but I hate Steam even more. Sigh.
HAHAHAHAHAH What a load of shit
Actual hackers steal credentials, crypto, ransomware your pc or other money gathering shit, why would they install a cheat for a fricking game?
It looks to me that the latest cheat everyone uses is exposing them and now they are blaming the game itself to cover their asses.
I fricking hope they are called out and ban every "pro" gamer out there for their lies.
Anon, the realest hackers of all time never made a virus that deleted user's files.
>install highly intrusive, high privilege software with dogshit security on millions of users' devices
>malicious hackers exploit it
>"how could this have possibly happened to us?!"
>Competitive professional gaming e-sports getting shat on
Based hackers
>Valve
The damage one company caused to PC gaming is unreal
>The damage one company caused to PC gaming is unreal
It's a shame. Valve knows what they're doing.
Flusha for instance played an entire CS career without getting banned once. He drew in a lot of people and money for Valve. Valve can't ban these cheating pros because it would utterly destroy the e-sports scene and trust in VAC and with it their cash cow.
I still remember the tournament when he got the double m4 spray on inferno while running. Watching that shit live while the controversy was getting very loud and still getting away with it lol
It really changed my spirit
The cheaters are the whales who dump money into lootcrates. Valve won't ban them.
>based hackers for ruining something I could never be good at, I want to watch the world burn because I'm a jealous, bitter loser
holy based
>Want to come home, relax, and play vidya
>Instead of getting a relaxing and enjoyable experience, have to get an experience where you play with sweaty players that want to be just like their favorite heckin' e-sports professional gamers and streamers
>Turns into a competitive arms race where players try to outsweat each other because winning in a computer video game is the only thing they can win at
>Fricking around and enjoying the game turns into winning for winning's sake
I would never cheat or hack but I completely understand the rationale behind people that blatantly cheat to poke fun at the silliness of competition in a fricking video game. These kids are so obsessed with winning it's cathartic watching them taste some of their own medicine.
>Want to come home, relax, and play vidya
>Jump into a competitive multiplayer game with top level players
>lose
>WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW BURN THE INDUSTRY DOWN
we share a board with these people
is it really competitive if people hack?
yes
I know this is a troll but I'm not sure what it's even getting at. Competitive video games are cringe as frick. Hackers shitting on these sweatlords is based. You're probably a predditor or a fricking European. Fricking subhuman wienerroaches.
>you're a troll for pointing out why I'm moronic
Cringe as frick indeed
Kernel anti cheat is cancer but at the end of the day little Timmy doesnt care and just want to play his video games regardless.
>a handful of cheating "pros" all get exposed by the same cheat-maker through the cheat's backdoor
>NOOOOO I'M GETTING FRICKING HACKED BROS, WHAT IS THIS? THEY PUT AIMBOT AND ESP ON MY SCREEN I'M SHUTTING IT DOWN
So, is there any official source for this or is this just another piece of "news" that comes from some random person and gets parroted as fact?
Just as I suspected.
Turns out the exploit is in VALVE's source engine TOP KEK
Valve drones BTFO once again
Source on that?
I stopped using Steam 1 year ago, I'm just curious
https://twitter.com/AntiCheatPD/status/1769725671033405509
Where does it say it's on VALVE's source engine?
it's says so right there in the tweet dude
Source was created by Valve. Valve has patched the vulnerability in their current version but Respawn uses an older modified version of Source.
you're sourcing damage control for the cheating homosexuals, really? EAC found nothing wrong as the morons responsible had willingly bought and installed hacks on their PCs. VALVE will find not source engine vulnerability as well as nobody did an ebin remote hacking as the lying sacks of shit claim in attempt to shift the blame, LOL
RCE exploits have existed as early as 1999 and as late as 2021 in the Source engine though. CS and TF2 are famous for having servers that execute remote code on clients.
stop throwing a tantrum over your lack of proper reading comprehension
you asked where the tweet mentioned source engine and i pointed it out. idk why you're attaching some kind of agenda to that
you're reposting idiocy and treating it as fact. you deserve to be ridiculed for it
i didn't do any of that and you made up some argument of my behalf to get angry over
>I didnt do any of that
meanwhile:
>Turns out the exploit is in VALVE's source engine TOP KEK. Valve drones BTFO once again
lmao
That wasn't him, that was me and it's 100% correct. Who do you think made the Source engine? Steve Ballmer?
so you're indeed treating this twitter idiocy as fact, lmao
>Valve didn't make the Source engine, that's just twitter idiocy
wilfully daft or what? re-read the whole conversation buddy
Yes, I'm daft and you're Daffy Duck. Looney Tunes.
you confusing two different posters
>if it wasnt EAC it has to be source!!!
its not a fricking RCE you stupid fricking morons. they didn't even know what the acronym RCE was before some schizo who has been proven wrong at least 3 different ways used the acronym on le reddit. it was a spearphishing RTLO fdp.exe on literally 2 fricking morons who can't use computers to save their life
>calls other people drones
>buys into an explanation with 0 evidence
EAC has already confirmed it's not on their end. Go check out
this. these homosexual "pros" have been cheating in apex since the beginning. there's a billion videos of these people doing 180s and shooting through walls yet the kiddies won't accept they cheat because their a streamer. this is them being exposed by the same person making their cheats.
>SAAAR THE 14 YEAR OLD CHEATER TELEPATHICALLY ALTERED MY PC IN A COMPLETELY SECURE ENVIRONMENT
how fricking gullible are people?
>locking up the PC
In streamers case that is the least bad thing that can happen, especially if they are female
Bro if Apex Legends let hackers install software on the computer of anyone who plays the game that would be AN INCREDIBLE SECURITY PROBLEM
>kernel level anticheat is the future
>HOW DID IT GET ACCESS TO MY SYSTEM? WOOOW
>it's not the cheats that contain a RAT 95% of the time, it's the anti-cheat from the reputable company!
Gee, I wonder who is trying to spread this narrative.
Oh the guys were totally cheating IMO, this just shows how useless EAC is
It's not useless, it prevents a large amount of cheating. There are no anti-cheats that are going to snuff out the streamers who pay monthly for a custom undetectable cheat.
It's valveBlack folk pushing this bullshit. They're constantly screeching about EAC and Vanguard because VAC is a flaming heap of garbage that only bans legit players while letting cheaters run wild in CS2
>reputable
>company
Yeah, certainly compared to someone who writes and sells cheats for multiplayer games.
wrong
false
>Currently, the RCE is being abused to inject cheats into streamers machines
"Do you guys ever get that weird glitch in CSGO where it shows everyone's rank? Wtf Clara, why the frick is this on my computer right now"
>how XYZ hacked/broke/crashed?
DEI
Of course something goes wrong with something given ring 0 access. Fricking dumbasses glad I went to linux.
>download apex hacks now
theres been no evidence it was the game or the anticheat just a bunch of apex homosexuals screaming that the sky is falling
If someone actually had discovered an RCE, wouldn't it make more sense to ransom as many as possible instead of just trolling some prominent streamers? Those affected probably have shit opsec and gave the "hackers" access ages ago. I do however wish this to be true because frick any kind of client side AC.
possible they are doing it for entertainment and not money
That motivation doesn't make sense, this must be a false flag
Apparently this particular hacker, named "Destroyer2009" is long known for cheating and hacking to troll people. He is genuinely just fricking with people for fun, like the good ol' days.
Also, hacking end users ain't shit m8, there's not much money there compared to the effort. Big time hacker looking for the cash go after corporations.
>just for fun
He ruined the reputation, career and life of multiple streamers.
and nothing of value was lost
They're going to lose their income, so there is value lost.
B A S E D
total competitive multiBlack person DEATH
So you're dropping the pretense of "it's just for fun"? You're a coward and a hypocrite because you'd be spinning a sob story if someone ruined your life by planting false evidence on you.
No, John, you are the Black person.
They ruined it themselves installing cheats on the first place
Or they just downloaded it off stream and got caught. Zoomers are so dumb lmao
Why is no one accusing the pro player of injecting cheats himself lol
they are long time pros who played at LAN tournaments multiple times with a proven record or something along the lines.
There have been cases before where genuine pro players still cheated at games.
what is this
card sleeves with markings to make them recognizable
oh, so he could figure out what the card was while it was upside down?
Adding to what the other anon said, the hackers took direct responsability by hijacking the streamers' chat box to make them they've been pwned by the two hackers in team chat, plus cheating in an Esports event held by the official Apex people isnt exactly easy.
And when one of the hackers got poked about it he was open to answering stuff
>yup we did it
>not client side, rce
>[popular Apex mod framework] isnt to blame for it
Funnily enough I see little heat towards the hackers either. Majority seem to be in agreement that its Apex Devs' fault for being such smooth brains. Imagine running a godamn esports event and using main servers instead of airgapping shit in an intranet lmao.
Has that screenshot actually been confirmed to be the guy who supposedly did this? Because literally anyone can name themselves anything in a chat and say anything, a screenshot of it isn't evidence of anything.
>run proprietary software on proprietary os
>get btfo'd
So basically... Streamers caught cheating and they're running damage control?
I don't know how I should feel about Valve. On the one hand, they're not as actively shitty as their competition, invest in Linux and they have made some of the best video games of all time, but on the other hand they did or at the very least created a catalyst for some of the worst trends in modern gaming.
Whoops, meant to quote ya
CS is overrated and I wish that mod for Half-Life was never created. On top of that, it was the worst mode that became the most popular. Narrow lanes, forced chokepoints, basic movement and shooting, same fricking popular map played for decades.
And don't get me wrong, Half-Life isn't terrible but going back and revisiting them you can see how bland the series is.
feel the same about a lot of popular shooters tbh.
The way i see it, the healthiest bodies sustain the worst parasites but that does not mean they're directly responsible for them.
>not just turning your computer off.
literally pull the plug. if your shit is getting "hacked" just stop.
lmao naive kids saying bullshit so they don't see the truth about their imaginary internet friends being fricking cheating losers is hilarious.
yes they cheat, yes its easy because tournament organizers are moronic, yes they played online from their own home so everyone who had the cheat installed got exposed by cheat maker.
Even if there was a lan tournament the IT responsible for the machines are dumbasses who can't into proper endpoint security and firewall restrictions, there is video of chinks with cheats called word.exe
>2 players get remote controlled during a live tournament
>social media reporters go wild
>make it sound like its still happening
>make it sound like everyone is vulnerable
>blame the anticheat and the game
2 guys got hacked! maybe they clicked a link or plugged in a USB that someone left in their mailbox
more likely they purchased hacks and the hackerman turned on troll mode knowing exactly what he was doing.
This. It's like the line of code you leave in your software/website that self-destructs in case your client doesn't pay.
this sounds the most likely. pathetic gays
EA servers. EA cybersecurity
On both videos the players are playing on their own pcs in their own rooms, not on some tournament pc.
>players were using cheat software
>said software had hidden payloads
>payload deploys and all the bigboy apex players play the "UHHH IT WAS RCE I DINDU NUFFIN DIDN'T INSTALL CHEAT SOFTWARE" card to save face
That's about it.
>Thinks he's getting trolled
>Throws an adult temper tantrum
>n-no you didn't!
Honestly, best case scenario is happening before my eyes. Thanks for making my day, loser.
Anticheat is malware?
WOW. I did not know that. You're telling me now for the first time.
it's not though
reminder that racism is not allowed on IQfy
I'm black, I can say it tho.
This site is fricking dead and has become worse than reddit, this is like reading youtube comments tier shit.
Yep, the pol/russian invasion of IQfy was the final nail in the coffin. Anyone who knew what hiro did with 2ch knew it was coming.
I think IQfy invaded the thread which would explain the low quality posts and stupid arguing
And yet here you are, throwing a tantrum in a video games thread. Very smart!
there was rce discovered in source couple years ago and maybe because apex uses it's own source fork it never got fixed in their game
They would need access to EA servers to upload the payload
The rce could be sent over steam invites
That exploit was patched literally a month before Apex launched on Steam, a little over 3 years ago.
Proofs?
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2094227670?t=08h59m32s
Guy frequently stream snipes people by mass spawning bots -- and that's something you'd need server access to be able to do, none of that is doable client side
>it looks like he's spawning stuff into the game
right like we've never had any f2p source game where people ran networks of bots before.
they just have to have access to the game server!!
this guy always talks out of his ass non stop. if you had access to the server you could do a lot more than that to troll streamers.
it also even doesn't explain rce stuff.
The average streamer is so technologically illterate they can barely start OBS without the help of someone else. They downloaded a RTLO fdp.exe and gave some skid admin access to their computer
>RTLO
holy shit lol that's funny as frick. How had I never heard of this?
i chose to believe these streamers were closet cheaters and no rce where used in either apex, ac, or steam
only an in-depth writeup will change my mind
its insane that people are like
>this rce that could be sold and exploited for millions of profit was instead used to ruin an apex legends online tournament instead of to install cryptominers on everyone who uses the software. yeah that's completely logical
is somehow accepted as the most likely reason. actual brain damage
That's literally what people have done via the Source engine for decades.
lets see the white paper im too tired for more of this homosexualry
I'll spoonfeed you since you are a homosexual who doesn't know how to Google, but you have to agree to leave this site forever once I do. Deal?
this. the discussion could be had if it was on tournament grounds, but they're playing on PCs in their own private homes. absurd. the cheaters should be banned for life and that's it
Wow i didn’t know giving ring 0 access to some random company could ever be abused
It wasn't though
I knew this was going to happen with these extreme anti-cheat measures. Say no to ring0
EAC already confirmed that you're wrong
reminds me of this video. look at the streamers absolute panic when the cheats come up. he knows he's not innocent and immediately tries to prove he is.
>anti-cheat software actually makes legitimate players cheat unwillingly
Oh wow, now that's a twist I wasn't expecting.
