You have 5 years to get as much money as possible from the software industry. After that it's OGRE. LLM already went from markov chain word salads to being decent at pair programming in just a few years.

You have a few years to go, anon. AI still isn't at that level yet, despite how much better it's gotten.

AI won't ever get to that level where it'll completely replace programmers. Not in a few years, not in 10 or 20 years. The simple fact of the matter is there's much more to being a programmer than shitting out code, which is about the only thing these LLMs can do.

uh oh you haven't used claude opus
it's capable of better critical thinking and logical deduction than your average IQfy poster

I'm using all the LLMs I can find and none of them are of any help for any hard technical question. Even for high level stuff like "give me a workflow to make zig support my custom microcontroller"

reminds me when I asked ChatGPT some basic electronics work and it can answer basic shit, but will just make random shit up as you get more complex. It's insanely impressive how good it is at making up random shit though. it will even print out circuit diagrams and shit.

works for me, you just don't know how to prompt.

When did IQfy become full of morons?

My school CS faculty is completely dismayed as to what to do about AI.
They already realize that many first year students know how to prompt better than professors who have been coding for decades.

        >My school CS faculty is completely dismayed as to what to do about AI.
No shit. Those who cannot do, teach, and the average CS instructor can't even manage that anymore.
AI is not going to replace the majority of devs, at least not in our lifetime. It's going to replace the jeets and bootcampers that shouldn't have been allowed into the industry to begin with.

Yeah but they can't write it without AI which is what the class is about. All the professors need to do is test the students on writing programs with paper and pencil. They'll stop using that AI real fast.

Sorry, I think you guys mistook my questions. I wanted to learn about the AI and making AIs that are capable of doing those stuff. Not turning into a moron prompt writer.

Another learning material if you want to get a grasp before getting started

            subjects:
Calculus 1&2 (especially multivariable calculus) + Linear Algebra + Basic Statistics

            MS beginner courses:
            https://microsoft.github.io/AI-For-Beginners/
            https://github.com/microsoft/ML-For-Beginners
            https://microsoft.github.io/generative-ai-for-beginners/#/

            books:
            An Introduction to Statstical Learning
            Elements of Statistical Learning
Pattern Recognition and Machine Learning (Classic ML, not deep learning)
            Dive into Deep Learning (http://d2l.ai/)

Get a PhD (a master at least) if you really want to learn and get a decent AI/ML job. This is not even a shitposting, but reality.

You don't have to have a bachelor's if you want to get enrolled in a grad school but finish your major (or give it up if you dropped out of high school)

Then learn not to be autistic first. AI/ML industry in general does care about your credential unless you have a repo with 10+ stars (you can make one if you're really lucky, just try reading source code of text-generation-webui. Its quality is mediocre at best)

I'm in a similar situation. I will be 30 in a few months. I didn't drop out but I've taken ages to finish my bachelor's degree. If all goes well it'll be done in a year. But I don't expect it will do much for me (an undergraduate in physics isn't really anything)

I've started learning C. started working through K&R and its exercises, it has been very fun and interesting. I had very light experience with other languages like Python but nothing much

Yes, you have plenty of time. Just as webshitters have plenty of work even after hundreds of ''glue together your own website'' services appeared on the web, so will you have work to do. Assuming that you're going to be any good at it of course. AI is 90% hype. Companies very often jump on this train for purely marketing reasons.

Aside from what the other anons mentioned:
Most of this sh*t is gonna be centralized and monthly-payment only and political-correctnessed to death so it won't allow you to do any of the cool shit like e.g. scraping manga from a online fanlation manga reader site, or creating browser extensions that make corporate services like youtube more bearable/useable.
It might help with a few bits here and there if these don't hint at what you want to do but it will flat out refuse to automatically create code when it is obvious that you are up to some digital "gang shit" (as the youngsters say) that might displease our corporate overlords.
