      >mpv doesn't have this problem.
The mpv transition to libplacebo has been a disaster and the quality of mpv has regressed significantly.

Yeah, and? VLC 4 uses libplacebo too. That's part of why it's broken.

          >VLC 4 uses libplacebo too
          lol mpv is getting depreciated

VLC doesn't use any of mpv's demuxers, so its not going to solve most of the fundamental problems with VLC. It's just going to mean that VLC won't have fricked colors anymore (hopefully)

VLC can do more than MPV by default. MPV is nothing without plugins and other crap. Also VLC is more popular.

why are you using vlc in 2024?

vlc is for tech illiterate boomers

being tech literate is only required to create a program, not using a program, by definition
using complicated program for the sake of it only makes you look dumber, and nothing will ever change that

        >using complicated program for the sake of it only makes you look dumber, and nothing will ever change that
exactly, this is why I don't use vlc. It's bloated garbage with inferior video quality.

It's VLC, you can most likely remove or rearrange every element of the UI if you want.

But there are no need to rearrange, because VLC is perfect as is.

That too but it makes scrolling back a pain and merely seeing it annoys me

I did a test and it does attribute to the file size if I leave it visible when recording. I just don't like having a terminal window more than half the width of my monitor. I am a window tiling dilettante & I think a happy medium is just minimizing the window to reduce file size and annoyance. ;3
