How to get into Slavoj Zizek?

I recently saw his movie "The Pervert's Guide to Ideology" and found him to be very funny and interesting.

How can I get into his philosophical ideas?

Such a shame that the debate is behind a paywall

If you go to the website the full debate is hosted on, skip the ad, and play the short teaser clip. Right click on the video and then press "save video as" (or whatever it shows for you), you just download the full debate.

I'm not sure how they missed such a big loophole for their paywall, but it's free if you do it.

i recommend getting into lacan first by reading bruce fink's books: A Clinical Introduction to Lacanian Psychoanalysis: Theory and Technique and The Lacanian Subject

some knowledge on Hegel and Marx wouldn't hurt too

then most important zizek books are probably The Sublime Object of Ideology, The Parallax View and Less Then Nothing

no, the most important zizeks are Opera's Second Death, and The Wagnerian Sublime: Four Lacanian Readings of Classic Operas, as well as his 3 articles titled On Opera

Just watch his movies and read his major works. Beware, Zizek's work can be divided into books and films that are good and exist for a purpose, and then there's the books and articles he pops out every 5 minutes to make money and air his generally ignorant opinions about whatever's happening in the news cycle. Their his version of a contrarian Twitter hot take. These should be avoided becuase they have zero merit, no substance, and are inconsistent as frick.

I find it strange that Zizek can have such radical views but when it comes to practical politics and policy he's identical to most European left liberals. He supports Ukraine with a fervor befitting a blind normalgay, he's indecisive on immigration, he believed the US war in Afghanistan should have been fought better, and has these cringy takes on "European values" and the Enlightenment like some Steven Pinker-esque fraud. Clearly he's never read Spengler. Zizek is a perfect example of controlled opposition. He just sits on his university chair all day typing away on his word processor and trying hard to be eccentric and contrarian when he's banal as frick and doesn't care about revolutionary change at all.
