you will never need more, it just werks
>Is it a meme?
It depends what you mean. It works, and a lot of geeks love using it and customizing it. Is it making them more productive, though? I doubt it. If you forced them to use something mainstream like KDE Plasma, I think they'd be just as productive.
Everything “just works”.
I don't get this selling point. Software that doesn't “just work” is extremely broken; it's a very low bar.
>4 terminals and nothing else >uptime hidden >desktop rendered on iGPU >memedistro >memetop opened as if you are monitoring critical temperatures or unexpected traffic >laptop
yep, "just werks", because you do nothing useful with it. At least your laptop is not 1366x768, isn't that something?
>4 terminals and nothing else
No anon, just a screenshot of a spare workspace with the basics to show what you're running like everyone else does. >Uptime hidden
Not hidden, just not displayed... As you pointed out it's a laptop, who keeps a laptop turned on? Especially when your boot time is so fast / you have working sleep or hibernate. >Desktop on iGPU
Indeed, seems to work a lot better and smoother - also free's up my 3080 to focus on the tasks at hand and be much more efficient as a whole. >memedistro
Sure sure. >Monitoring
No anon, just a simple display. >Laptop
Yes anon, some people leave their desks. >Do nothing
Meh, see's gaming, that's about it for strenuous activity these days... Bit of music and DAW stuff for my guitars, hurdy gurdy's and keyboards when I'm in the mood >Not 1366x768
God forbid, 1440p @ 165hz
It looks pretty good to be honest.
But it also highlights the problem with the Wayland crowd for me. I think it looks pretty cool but I also don't have the time to port my setup to it just to try it which is why this “forced switching” is insanity.

Ahahaha, this idiot got trolled so hard.
He seriously quotes this as an example: >I think [a Code of Conduct] is pretty discriminatory towards people that prefer a close, hostile, homogeneous, exclusive, and unhealthy community.

If I wanted to watch hyprland videos, it's not that hard to open youtube and type it in search bar, you know? Don't know what you think you achieved here, but not what I asked.
It's been running really well but Fractal won't let me paste images from wl-clipboard into it and for some reason also won't let me open links in my default browser despite having XDG-desktop-portal-hyprland and gtk installed and running. Not sure if that's a hyprland or Fractal issue.
It's the flashiest of all wayland compositors by far.
I would use it if not for it using too much vram, uses almost 3 times as much as Sway, and since I'm training ai models on my machine, even something as relatively small as 200-300 mb vram can mean the difference between being able to use the system comfortable while training.
So I'm sticking with Sway although it's not as nice.
>uses gayland
yes
Try Hypr (the original for X, without land)
nta but I've tried it for a few days
it's not bad but I still went back to xfce in the end
Maybe, but I use as my daily driver and it works great.
do you play games?
Yep. Both steam and Battlenet games through Lutris work great. AMD Graphics.
Anything wayland is a meme.
It literally will randomly replace your wallpaper with a tranime girl.
Of course it's a fricking meme.
No memes here sonny Jim, only straight up "Jus' Werks."
>cashyos
who distro
CachyOS* ftfy anon.
Yes - who OS indeed, big time eyeroll.
Been rock solid for months upon months, makes every day a blessing.
Also lightning fast from their optimisation work and their V3 and V4 packages side of things.
trust someone who uses gayland to also use the pajeet terminal kek
Trust the anon hucking the insults of a five year old, to argue with peak performance.
Pitiful.
>peak performance
Kekw - calls someone a pajeet terminal user then posts his DE with a literal pajeet.
Wlroots coming your way soon anon, better find greener pastures to migrate to!
Love to laugh at you all night, but it's late in bongland and alas, work in the morning. Ttfn.
good night sir
good night saar, don't forget to redeem before bed
>Kekw
way to out yourself as a tourist homosexual. you should have a nice day at your earliest convenience.

yes
The only openly alt-right project out there. The founder regularly tells leftists to STFU.
The project got bullied into adopting a CoC and the creator banned all transphobes
works great for me
>Hyprland is a dynamic tiling Wayland compositor based on wlroots
what?
Good news: it's just sway with fancy colors and animations.
Bad news: it's just sway with fancy colors and animations.
forgot to mention its animations run perfectly smooth on my 12-year-old laptop. lightweight.
It does look pretty looking at the videos though.
Not sure how smooth the animations are still going to look under heavy load.
>Hyprland is a dynamic tiling Wayland compositor based on wlroots that doesn't sacrifice on its looks.
It's a meme

You all should be using xmonad on arco linux, the real white homosexual Black person dick loving distro.

yeah it's a fricking meme

It's pretty good and just werks, chuds will seethe about it for whatever reason tho, but they seethe about everything anyway.

Apparently the community is quite toxic, so be careful:

What is this hyprland? Is it sway but more modern looking? Is tiling like i3? Has panel with drop down menu?
Find longer videos if it be your fancy.
It's admittedly very good looking, not sure how much these effects can be customized though.
>here watch a 1 hour video what can be said in 10 or less words
Dropped. Not even gonna look at screenshots.
It's a 60 second video, not a 60 minute video.
Didn't click, don't care.

It's a meme yet it's the only thing that works on wayland
I use it and I support slam dunking Black person babies into the trash.
Use it as daily driver for months now.
it's very based and works great.

yes, but it werks and I've been liking it so far
