So do you just read books in order to extract trivial messages like 'people tend to become cruel when they have power outside the boundaries of society'?
>As powerful a condemnation of imperialism as has ever been written
Imagine being that type of subhuman who read HoD and thinks this is the pivotal idea behind the novella. Conrad does critique imperialism, but the main theme of the story is Kurtz himself, and Marlowe's interpretation of the man. So, much more individualistic in tone than the 'le hecking condemnation of imperialism.'
Cringe bugmen are just wasting their brain power reading anything other than twitter and the press releases of western think tanks.

It's ok op because you will always be able to complain about it and be a representative voice of decent. Like I fricking absolutely hated The Old Man and The Sea, and I speak up on it every fricking time because frick that boringass book. Readers like you are important to the discussion so shit doesn't get circlejerked into oblivion.

They aren't important. They are just there for midwits to feel collectively smart.
No they are, it's good to have a variety of opinions on a book. The people who don't like books often have more realistic takes or point out flaws better than people who love it. I've had quite a few revelatory experiences when reading mid or negative reviews of books.

Most of these people don't have the mental capacity to point out a flaw or a criticism. See OP and his "points".

Only proving my point. My guess is that you are OP.
Elaborate or delete thread.
There's nothing you can't find in Lord of the Flies

Do you not?
It’s the process of reading I enjoy most. Everything else is a cherry on top
Style and poetic prose are far superior than any kind of message. If the message is first and foremost then that’s bad art
If you’re reading fiction just to find some epiphanic experience you’re not going enjoy most books you read.
>nooooo where is my Big Dostoyevskian Lesson
booklets baka
