I grew up and moved back to Ubuntu

When did you realise Ubuntu was just good enough?

I just use Debian Stable. Why would I want to use fricking snap packages?

I just use Debian. It's like Ubuntu before Ubuntu gone schizo.

what if I want to use software developed after 2015 that's not filled with old security flaws??

Debian 12 is from 2023 and receives security updates

I just need an OS to get work done and not worry about having to modify everything, and Ubuntu seems to be working fine for me so far.

What's wrong with snaps? I still don't understand why everyone has such a raging hate boner towards them.

planning on jumping on ubuntu with 24.04 and never leaving. im just so tired of tweaking a million little things with debian to make it usable and everything else feels like a total meme. i dont give a frick about customizing things anymore and every linux desktop has some kind of annoying issue. i'm just going to grit my teeth, install 24.04 and never look at the linux world again.

i mean you still need to look at the linux world for applications
and Gnome has its own issues...

the ubuntu software center would be enough to find what you're looking for

i agree that gnome also has issues but they are usually very minor. ubuntu's gnome extensions help make it bearable as a desktop. currently on debian KDE I'm lucky if resizing the panel doesnt cause the entire plasma desktop to crash

I actually had Debian-specific issues with KDE that didn't happen on other distros. Give Kubuntu 24.04 a quick try before making a decision.

More like I got filtered by having to change my xorg.conf whenever I added/removed a monitor or something broke for no reason, or having to recompile my WM whenever I wanted to make a minor change to the keybindings
