planning on jumping on ubuntu with 24.04 and never leaving. im just so tired of tweaking a million little things with debian to make it usable and everything else feels like a total meme. i dont give a frick about customizing things anymore and every linux desktop has some kind of annoying issue. i'm just going to grit my teeth, install 24.04 and never look at the linux world again.
the ubuntu software center would be enough to find what you're looking for
i agree that gnome also has issues but they are usually very minor. ubuntu's gnome extensions help make it bearable as a desktop. currently on debian KDE I'm lucky if resizing the panel doesnt cause the entire plasma desktop to crash
More like I got filtered by having to change my xorg.conf whenever I added/removed a monitor or something broke for no reason, or having to recompile my WM whenever I wanted to make a minor change to the keybindings
>recompile my wm to rebind keys

Al distros are fricking same.
canonical telemetry has detected your positive shilling and appreciates your service
anons its okay to admit you just don't have the intelligence or maturity to learn how to use a computer and need the entire process to be abstracted away for you by someone else. mouthbreathers like you keep me in a job lads, I have a vested interest in you guys being visibly comfortable in your skin to show demand for services and products. own it.
>DWM is the only WM
use one that isn't a fricking meme you moron. i3 is significantly better and doesn't require being never having sex with a female to use

Or I could just go a step further and switch to something like Mint that has almost all the features I want and just werks

>why are you not making things harder for yourself
moron
These people don't have jobs or irl relationships anon. Spending 100s of hours configuring the latest meme distro for a 5% boost in performance is all they have
I just use Debian Stable. Why would I want to use fricking snap packages?
what if I want to use software developed after 2015 that's not filled with old security flaws??
Debian 12 is from 2023 and receives security updates
>Software that has been vetted longer is less secure than whatever slop covid-brain-damaged zoomers are putting out these days.
Brainlet.
I just need an OS to get work done and not worry about having to modify everything, and Ubuntu seems to be working fine for me so far.
What's wrong with snaps? I still don't understand why everyone has such a raging hate boner towards them.
Funny way of spelling kubuntu
potato tomato
Well put
I just use Debian. It's like Ubuntu before Ubuntu gone schizo.
same, just went back to it this year, been on arch 4 years. its sooo much easier doing everything on ubuntu I fricking love it
debian was too out of date for me, i went back to kubuntu and i just remove firefox snap and its basically just an updated debian.
mint
pointless derivatives
Mint fixes the snap snafu
They're all Debian derivatives anyway
I think you mean Pop!_OS

i mean you still need to look at the linux world for applications
and Gnome has its own issues...

I actually had Debian-specific issues with KDE that didn't happen on other distros. Give Kubuntu 24.04 a quick try before making a decision.
You fell for the memes, use whatever is good for you.
For me, it's Fedora
I grew up and moved back to Windows. If I need linux, I just use wsl
I bought Ubuntu Pro because I love open source.
I thought it was free
Al distros are fricking same.
I grew up and used mint. I could replicate all my old DWM key bindings in cinnamon with only a few minor hiccups

If you know of a way to change DWM's config/binary without recompiling it I'm all ears

I figured out a long time ago Windows 10 LTSC 2021 IoT with updates disabled, MS Defender and Edge uninstalled was good enough for me
>good enough
for what exactly?
>i love customizing my system just like i love customizing my genitals
i cant move back to ubuntu because they dropped i686 support
what a bunch of ass wipes
Circa 2019. Switching from Linux Mint (hardware issues after upgrade).
it is the "it just works" distro
