I have 250,000 .gif files in a single folder on my desktop. What is the easiest way to go about sorting these?

Delete them all, and free yourself of their unnecessary burden.

if you can get it working theres python algorithms that assign tags via deepbooru, but I've never been able to get this shit to work because python is a trainwreck of envs and no troubleshooting IQfyirls (male) offered was able to help at all. If you update it for modern python please share with brainlets.

you must view each one, name them and create folders with apt description to sort them.

Sort by what? And do they need to be sorted? Do you even need to have them?
Instead of sorting them, name them. Right click, sort by name and start renaming all the ones with random numbers/letters. If you have the time to collect them you have time to sort them by hand.
And as always you could pay a pajeet a few bucks to do it for you.

download digikam, assing a bunch of labels+hotkeys to apply those labels
then apply a filter so digikam only shows untagged gifs, then you view each and press a keyboard shortcut to assign a label
it should switch to the next one automatically since you applied a tag and the current one got filtered
good luck, and try not to jerk yourself moronic if its all porn
