I just lost my 1000+ browser tabs after closing and opening my browser. My life is over.

I lost my entire history (and the backup created by an addon/plugin that extends history) in Chrome because I had low storage space on my main drive and apparently when it geos <1 GB chrome deletes everything and fricks everything up because mentally ill nepo baby morons programmed it to work that way.
Maybe it does the same to tabs?

I searched for some backup or something in my profile folder and nothing. Opened a bunch of files using sqlite and everything was gone.
Fricking clown world. Just do the math: 1 million websites stored as tabs/history would only require a few dozen megabytes of space. Why delete?! Nobody has care about megabytes since the mid 90s. What an insanely idiotic piece of software.
        And the
        >history from 90+ days ago is deleted
        thing is stupid too.

I'm guessing they sabotage their program so that it becomes less and less useful. After all, most of their money is made by raping your privacy (surveillance, selling data, etc.) and showing you ads.

If you really want you could just do what I do with youtube videos for my playlist and just make a google drive excel sheet and list every tab you want to save and a brief description of what it's about. Youtube deletes my playlist videos often so I just type in the name of the video and any extra notes if I need to.

i just use text or csvs for that because i want to search through stuff locally and edit it in vim. I can't bother making an excel sheet for it. I don't want to use israelitegle for it either. I store everything locally as much as possible because I know these Black folk take your shit and train algorithms/AI on it or sell/leak it everywhere on the internet and if I'm not comfortable saying personal stuff to strangers I'm not comfortable
with narcissistic psychopaths and pajeet nepo babies reading my shit or using it to train algorithms. I used bing a few days ago and I asked it to write a script (that I know I'd uploaded on github) and it copy pasted it and refused to say who was the author lmao.

Your browser likely creates session backups each time you close the browser. It likely only keeps the last couple backups though, so if you close and open your browser again then you're cooked.
Search for the backup session and save it. Then use it to overwrite your regular session.

i have 1617 tabs atm, i use a hibernation extension and a vertical tab organizer
they've gotten wiped before, stupid backup system is terrible, the only option is sending a json file to a ~~*google docs*~~ account

    >bookmarks
bookmarks systems haven't improved in like 25 years

Tabs are a strictly worse way of organizing URLs then bookmarks.

Zoomer esl on the line. There's high chance that ~900-950 of the tabs were e-girl, porn, youtube, tik-tok, IQfy. These have ~10-15 sites, all with internal search engines. So why do you keep them as direct links instead of these sites + a text file of search queries which would lead you to the links? It's not like you've gained these links out of nowhere.
    >muh gets deleted
Make a local archive for later use then. With backups. It is the only solution.

    >close my entire browser with 1000+ tabs
    >oh actually forgot I opened a new window (not private)
    >let me close that too
    >sessionstore.js overwrites your 1000+ tabs to that last window with emtpy tab you closed, basically wiping it
    >not even a trace in the backup files since it thinks this commit is legit (that you were done with your 1000+ tabs when you exited it)
    >since it's not "corrupted sessionstore" it means that there is no previous backup, the backup sessions also got committed to becoming one black tab
    >pressing ctrl+shift+t does nothing
meanwhile on chrome (though chrome/google is not based) you can just press ctrl+shift+t and recover ALL your tabs from since you installed that browser, this is the power of browsing history tracking (one feature which google products are VERY good at). it is sad that this is not the case with mozilla,
mozilla had been shit EVER since, even with fricking forks you'd still need "Tab Session Manager" to have it usable even today but compared to google chrome (back in like 2008) it would restore all your tabs, due to its upbringing that it CRASHES all the time, this made chrome have the best tab session recovery compared to any other browser, not even opera (presto) can compete

      Precisely this ^

When I'm closing firefox, I always (always!) use the exit option in the menu, which closes and saves everything at once. I'm super careful about closing windows.

i don't have to be because i have an addon that takes regular session backups, so if the current session is unusable like that, i can just restore the next newest backup

    Bookmarks exist for a reason.

Opening and closing a tab is less work than setting up a bookmark, especially if you categorize it. Bookmarks are for things you visit repeatedly or want to have saved for a specific occasion.
Tabs are for stuff you use once. And sometimes they pile up.

Bookmarks are more annoying to organize and you don't stay on any particular version of a page necessarily. When I open up my browser, everywhere I need access to is readily available in little labeled folders. And I can bookmark the lot of it as a timestamp.

What suprises me about this is that you trusted Chrome to save 1000 tabs in the first place. Just use bookmarks.

I remember Chrome's UI becoming completely broken by the time you open about 40 to 50 tabs. First the tabs become Toblerones, then anything after the number would never be shown in the tab bar.

going through all what? installing an addon?
if something happens and my session is damaged, i get a popup before the browser opens asking to restore the last backup

yes just use the built function that comes with your browser instead of downloading redundant extensions

also, how is maintaining bookmarks less work? i don't know ahead of time how long i intend to keep a tab, i only bookmark things i feel i may forget how to find

Learn to bookmark, and by that I mean write a bookmarking script that adds your links to a text file so your bookmarks are not browser-dependent.

How do you guys even find enough interesting webpages to have so many tabs? The web seems dead to me, if I open up a browser there is nowhere I want to go or search.
