Don't believe the shitposters. There is no such thing as anonymous email. ProtonMail isn't perfect, but it is still a lot better than the alternatives unless you are willing to self-host.

They've literally only given out access logs when ordered by courts. They don't have email access so they can't really give out anything else. They were never exempt from the local authorities. The whole idea was that they were slightly better since they weren't apart of the 14 eyes nations.

There is a reason even small email providers have dozens of security engineers. Hosting a secure mail is time consuming and in most cases undoable.

People who recommend self hosting have never done it themselves and dont know how much of a haste it is.

Post a PGP public key so I can suggest a few nice email providers in an encrypted message later (I'm not gonna post them publically because IQfy would obviously spam them). And, of course, you have to encrypt your mails with PGP as well.

Even if one single individual may not be concretely impacted, we still want to be *actually* free from external forces that automatically surveil users. We do not want to be paws.
I understand it's not a simple topic, even I have difficulty writing down my thoughts on this topic, also because sometimes I also have doubts on my beliefs. But rejecting privacy with no care? I just can't do that. I need privacy.

            Anonymous

I don't understand all this nihilism. I do not think it's realistic at all. You don't need to disconnect from the internet to have privacy: Tor is the greatest example. Is it flawed? Sure. But its flaws don't concern the masses; only real, important targets. And even they could use even better software like Whonix.
Boycotting is important, because if every citizen enters this mindness, great progress would be brought about. Corporations would be forced to respect the new requests from the consumers, who demand quality. Such a mindset would even help solve global warming.
Of course email services alone aren't enough to defend your privacy, those are just a single kind of tool (email is fundamentally insecure though)
