I thought about putting all my IQfy responses onto notepad instead of into IQfy to see what comes out
I have been doing that a little. instead of immediately shitting out a schizo post in wwoym, I write it in a doc first. makes me put in a little more thought into the writing, and I can still get some of the (You)'s I crave.

The state of art in the modern age will become watered down as time wears on, as literacy rates fall, as the global IQ goes down, as all art gets recycled from past ideas and all that is left is a vapid soulless form of marketing strategies and statistical probability coupled together with story archetypes and characters that will be so predictable and mundane that sooner or later anyone with half a brain will not be able to fight the compulsion of suicide.

That has almost aways been all art, though. To come up with something truly original you may as well enter the 4th dimension.
Ya but at least before we could work with unique configurations of preexisting variables, whereas now everyone not only uses the same variables by also the same configurations. If it's truly the end of creativity I see no other course of action but suicide.
Look at the books and movies and music that has been released within the past decade, it's all dogshit, some scrape by with enough intrigue to last for a couple years but they quickly fall off. Now look at older art, how long it lasts, how rewatchable or rereadable it all is, sure theres some shit in there but the quality of modern art has come way down, nobody is ever trying anymore, they just appeal to marketing standards to make a buck and then call it a day. Not that I think money is bad, but it's become the only thing people care about, more then making good art.
You can probably cite some small obscure artists you're aware of, but even they aren't at the same level as what came before. Art will only continue to water down until the world ends, I'd prefer sooner rather then later at this point.

Some say your thirties are your best writing years. That was a half century ago so it's probably more like 40s now

A lot of this is going to sound deranged out of context, but the story is told through the characters own psychotic perspectives. This is the second chapter, the first chapter makes it more clear that the footnotes are a second characters perspective that is going on in the background, and although the attachment of footnotes to word choice instead of the end of a sentence isn't a proper use of them it is better understood in the first chapter that this is intentional.
I consider this a shitty introductory chapter, the first chapter does a lot better but I'm lacking 5 pages worth of architectural layouts before it can be considered finished. This is probably the shittiest chapter in the whole book.
I'm also not sure about the spacing of this section, I've scrunched it all up to fit on just these 4 pages so that may harm readability.

to be completely and totally honest, it's pretty shit, but you've done more than I or 99% of the people ITT have so I'll give you that. it seems like you're trying too hard in this one so I would suggest in your next go maybe try to have the words and sentences come more naturally, if that makes any sense. don't sit there for hours trying to think of a clever word or phrase to use or whatever. many authors fall short doing this kind of thing. they think their audience is going to have an above average grasp on the english language. write for the common man. story matters more than what sentences you string together using a thesaurus. also your writing seems kind of ridged. robotic, and just kind of thrown together. idk if that helps at all but keep writing. don't get discouraged either just because some anon on IQfy is critiquing your writing. practice makes perfect.

Like I said it is the shittiest piece in the entire book, but it's necessary for what I'm going for. That and it's meant as an introductory piece to establish something of the metaphor and enviroment.
I also couldn't give less of a shit about the common man, the story, or anything else that isn't in line with what I'm going for, but the fact that this piece in particular is thrown together is again intentional. This style of writing is in no way exemplary of the kind of writing I do, it's just the nature of the project, so if it fails it fails. Thats why my initial post was about making something unmarketable, I mean the first chapter is a collection of crossword puzzles for frick sake, but I wrote it because I absolutely hate just about every piece of "Art" that has been produced in the past 20 years, and this is my way of saying frick you to just about everyone involved with making such insipid garbage, so if anyone calls it trash thats pretty much just psychological projection from insipid hacks.

I've spent the last 10 months writing my novel about a guy who loses his business because of the Lockdown and has to deal with living in a shithole like New York for the rest of 2020. It's been hell, and I'm currently on the second draft (104/158 pages done). I've got a bunch of other novel ideas after this one though, with my next idea being about the central government in Italy collapsing after a massive worldwide depressions and various mob groups seizing power, reminiscent of the Italian city-states of the medieval era. The whole plot will revolve around the Sicilian Mob trying to build a bridge to the mainland to transport heroin.
I'm letting some things stew in the old subconscious. There's something missing that I need before I write it, I might hammer out a few short stories I've been neglecting while I wait.
