I haven't read any romance or erotica but based on my own experiences and talking to women there's a "sweet spot" for penis size that just happens to be in the range of "average." The appeal of a really big dick is mostly psychological and most women really just want to try it — it's not sustainable long term. I used to be skeptical about guys who complained about having a penis that was "too big" to keep women around long-term, but it really is true. I am just a hair above average and in certain positions I can easily hit my wife's cervix and thus have to be careful. And for guys who are truly small, I'm sure there are women out there who have a fetish for it
the funny thing about it being psychological is that it's not just psychological for the woman but for the man, ie the guy who has a small dick will likely develop anxieties about it and compensatory behaviors that render him less attractive long before the dick is even out. the "big dick energy" twitter meme is real in that it's not about the penis as such, it's about the guy knowing that when push comes to shove he has what it takes to do the job, and as a result behaves very differently than someone who always anticipates being a disappointment.

There's no number or much of an emphasis, but they're implied to be well endowed by whatever the reader's standard is. In real life it's like what says. I'd say 10 cm is ok to do the job and anything more than 15 cm is unnecessary. You can stimulate the g spot well with just your fingers so take that for a comparison.
