    No.

Nothing short of nukes could give the Confederacy a win in the Civil War

The only way they'd have won is if Maryland joined and DC got immediately surrounded

not even then, bro. have you seen a map of MD?
Union moves HQ a few miles north to Pennsylvania, picks off western MD like it already picked off WV, carries out the grand-strategy as usual through TN. Nothing changes other than minor inconveniences to fat Senators.

I actually wonder if Maryland joining the CSA would have resulted in the capital permanently being relocated. Maybe back to Philadelphia or New York?

if Maryland joined the CSA the political war would be entirely lost

Definitely not New York. The City nearly seceded from the rest of the state to keep their slave-trade/cotton-exporting money pipeline running smoothly, and then of course there’s the Draft Riots a week after Meade BTFO’d Lee at Gettysburg. Probably would have ended up in Philly

if Maryland joined the CSA the political war would be entirely lost

Hardly. It would have been swamped by Union men before it had a chance to do anything

Maryland was “the middle” of the original 13. There wasn’t even a “middle” anywhere near St. Louis until Jefferson paid way too much for the Louisiana Purchase

Literally no one was going to stop the US from just taking it, so yes. And Jefferson’s autism led him to believe he “couldn’t” buy it so also frick his hypocritical ass. If Adams had won a second term and done it he would thrown an absolute spergout of a tantrum like the homosexual he was

So at what point during all this “””winning””” was he going to sail for America to wage war on the US for the sake of some completely undeveloped, barely even surveyed, mass of land that had only one (1) minor French trading port to provide him with arms, men and material, while leaving his “victories” in Europe to be immediately retaken by his enemies?
