their gaming division alone pulls in more than windows licenses ever did, revenue from azure is 5 times as much as licenses so is O365 and that segment is still growing rapidly. when you look at profits not just revenue the numbers are infinitely worse for licensing. they stopped reporting exact numbers per division a while ago and instead only report segment numbers. now all you need to know is that licensing is in the same segment as their gaming division, hardware division, bing, etc.
the truth is they're probably losing money on windows at this point but they don't care because windows is only a glorified tool to bind morons and get them to buy O365 and azure subscriptions.
