I'm planning on living aboard a sailboat and sailing my life away. Any recommendations for books on sailing, living on the water, or even a good pirate/nautical book are appreciated.

Log of the S.S. The Mrs Unguentine
You're not allowed to. You need to get a job and pay taxes. You're avoiding your social obligations for a selfish fantasy.
>lqbait.png
>social obligations is a synonym for living life in a cage
books for this feel?
It's called growing up. It's not a cage. Just find a job you like.
Genealogy of Morality Second Essay
Everyone have selfish fantasy.
Modern "society" is completely divorced from actual humanity and tradition, and deserves to crumble.
You're going to die and I won't miss you. Buh-bye. b***h.
Unbelievably based, I am in awe.
Able seaman and lifeboatman books 1&2
What do you do on a sailboat when you are not sailing?
Read, cook, and look at the water
Sounds comfy. Storms scare the dog shit out of me though.
I've always enjoyed storms. As cringe as it sounds its probably because of the psychological storm I was raised in during my childhood.
You're a dog??
patrick o'brian stuff
The novelization of Kevin Costner’s Waterworld
Moby Dick
I really do like the Pirates of the Caribbean films, they’re the closest you could get to the golden age of Hollywood in the 2000s.
They’ve got a nice feel to them
The Sailor who Fell from Grace with the Sea
Author disappeared at sea a few years after publishing the book.
I would be scared of aliens abducting me
They are not aliens from another world
They are demons from hell
author of pic related is also lost at sea
lost at sea basically means dead right? it's not like a forest where you can survive on your skills alone right? or can you?
Lost of sailing terms in this.

Ernest Shakelton's Boat Journey
I hear the Bermuda Triangle is a great place to visit
nah, sail to Epstein's island and snoop around the sex cult temple. Pretend you're in a video game.
Bow ditch. Everything you need to know about navigation is in that book. Every US war ship is required to have one. I believe there is an electronic version out as well which would make updating it a lot easier.
Enjoy constantly painting and scrubbing off barnacles and grime.
Enjoy waking up at 6AM every morning 5 days a week, shoving some food and coffee down your throat, commuting an hour and guzzling your boss's wiener until it's time to go home, your 3 hours of free time before rinse and repeat. Cleaning off some barnacles is relatively wholesome.
Quincy, M.E. and Crockett lived boats, but they were docked.
>I'm planning on living aboard a sailboat
Sounds stupid, why would you do that?
Some of us can't do the traditional 9 - 5.
Again, sounds dumb.
you sound dumb for not being able to grasp the concept that not everyone wants to live the same lifestyle as you.
>STOP LIKING THINGS I DON"T LIKE!!!
stop being a child.
Sounds like cope from a bad lifestyle.
I did it for four years and now own a home and from my experience, being a liveaboard is so much better.
A Boat Owner's Guide to Mechanical and Electrical Systems by Nigel Calder. Really anything Calder has written. If you can't fix most of the stuff on your boat yourself you're in for a really expensive time. And it's just a interesting read.
Source: I'm a ABYC certified marine technician and I've been sailing for over a decade.
Is it difficult to get into boat maintenance with no experience? I'm a computer science guy so the only "electrical" experience I have is fricking around with raspberry pi's.
Keeping a generator running, something that dumbass rednecks can do in their sleep, will give you panic attacks.

what if I'm already a dumbass redneck who has panic attacks because of existential dread?

We've only got one life, so it's more than worth a shot
Treasure Island
Kon Tiki is super comfy. Love the chapters where they just float in the Pacific and eat all the fish that jump on board. I doubt rhe seas are as bountiful now after so many decades of overfishing.
I seriously doubt the open ocean was ever bountiful. It's essentially a desert in terms of biodiversity. When I read that part I had my doubts. Maybe they were sailing over a reef or something.
20k leagues under the sea is the only thing you'll need
Did the character limit cut off the part where you said you will want to pirate and plunder various vessels you come across to self sustain yourself?
