Do all the exercises in hoffman and kunze and don’t bother opening axler. Unless you do at least 6hr per day it will take more than 30 days, i give you two months
Axler is the most used Linear Algebra book in American universities.
And?
I'm sure a literal who on IQfy knows better than all the top American unis and teachers.
They use it because it’s easier than other books while still having more rigor than a first linear algebra book. If you use it you are admitting that you are as dumb as the average college student. Plus it’s not exactly that axler is bad, it’s more that hoffman and kunze is better
I don't think it is.
IQfy not appealing to authority challenge [impossible]
no it isn't lmao
leaving out a massive piece of the theory for no reason is moronic
Amazing how one man writing a book building the entirety of Linear Algebra without determinants gets so much hate. apparently all math books and proofs should be the same to some people.
>LADR
into the trash it goes
The only LA book anyone ever needs is Halmos. Axler is such a israelite
I will stick to free resources but good on you
Prasolov or gtfo. Its free online too.
Never even heard of that one.
What is life if not a decades-long pastime?
>kunze
based
linear algebra is the easiest of undergrad maths, you can get through a textbook in a week
Book on the right is banned in Russia.
You know your country failed when it starts banning books.
Anon I think you missed the joke that the book on the right looks like the Ukranian flag
Lol, you're right. It's just that Russians are known elitists in the math community so I thought for a second there they really had something against Axler's.
Yes, very sad.
based, i wish i owned a print version of H&K. how much did it cost you?
btw H&K really is superior to Axler, but that doesn't mean you should avoid LADR altogether (e.g. iirc H&K devotes only a single page in the appendices to quotient spaces, while Axler does more with them). the single weakness in H&K is that its treatment of Jordan canonical form is suboptimal (idk how Axler does it, check it out), otherwise it's a 11/10 textbook. make sure to work through some of the exercises, they have some really good ones
That's a fake and used version, I bought it from a guy who makes them in my country. It was like $10, a brand new fake version must be around $20 or $30. An original hardcover and used one is going for $50~$70 on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Linear-Algebra-2nd-Kenneth-Hoffman/dp/0135367972/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?keywords=hoffman+kunze&qid=1654032124&sr=8-2
what does fake in this context mean? i considered getting the SEA version, but i hear the print quality is poor
The book isn't made by the company that originally published it, but by someone else. In this case the cover and the binding are pretty well made, but the quality of the paper is not as good as the usual paper used in famous textbooks, although it's not bad either, probably can last a lot of decades if well handled. The major issue I see here is that the person who made it printed the PDF version so you have stuff like pic related appearing from time to time, nothing too major. Overrall it was well worth it for the price despite the original version having slightly better paper and printing, but you'll have to find someone in your country who does a similar job. I've never seen those SEA versions personally but I heard they're not hardcover, have terrible paper quality and awful printing, it would be better to just find an independent bookbinder where you live and pay him to make one of those for you. On another note, although Springer has a bad reputation for printing on demand sometimes they really went all out on that edition of Axler, excellent binding, printing and paper.
>paper quality
Who the frick cares about paper quality of a book, books are meant to be read, not an artwork. Delete that shizo shit anon.
Because I want my sons and their sons to use them. I treat my books like actual pets because I want them to last for generations so that knowledge can be passed down to my successors.

I have a huge identity right here between my legs for you.
