Without an iota of doubt.
All you need are the books The Linux Command Line (free), How Linux Works (free on libgen), and if you really want to Linux from Scratch (free), in that order. Stick to a baby distro like Ubuntu, and I would even say to try to customize this distro to your liking as you become more knowledgeable and not bother hopping to a different, "more advanced" one. You don't really need to change distribution unless it's something radically different like Nix or Guix or something.
Where do you rank Debian on the distro difficulty scale?
for desktop it's fine, great for servers though.
if you're looking to install it on desktop look for the non-free ISO, as you probably will need proprietary drivers.
