>install Linux alongside Windows
>Windows won't boot and now asks me for the Bitlocker keys I don't have
How do I fix this back to normal? I need that Windows partition.
>install Linux alongside Windows
>Windows won't boot and now asks me for the Bitlocker keys I don't have
How do I fix this back to normal? I need that Windows partition.
wangblows usb boot into, repair installation, done
Is it really that easy? Won't I lose my data?
inshallah you wont
We are trying to help op do not invoke satan
>bizlaptop
You fricking moron, you are in satan's hands now
>I need that Windows partition
>Won't I lose my data?
I'm confused. How can you be tech-savvy enough to want to install and use Linux, but ignorant enough to frick around with your partitions without verifying that your backups are complete and up-to-date?
Restore from whatever imperfect backup you do have. If you don't have any, it was only a matter of time before you lost your data anyway.
not as long as you don't tell it to or have a Windows.Old folder (seriously, if you have data from a previous windows installation in Windows.Old, migrate it. I made the mistake of assuming that Windows will merge them once, because that's the default behavior windows exhibits unlike Unix, MacOS, BSD and Linux. But this is the one exception to that rule)
>startup repair
Doesn't work
>system restore
Nope
>System image recovery
Nothing
>Command prompt
No idea what to input
>not maining linux full time
>not using windows in a vm
I installed Windows in my SSD and Linux in my HDD. I regret this. How can I switch?
Clone your hdd to another drive if you can. In not backup your files/programs then install Linux on your ssd
>>not maining linux full time
>>not using windows in a vm
Linux alongside Windows
never install linux alongside windows, either go all the way and write over the whole disk and use only linux or stick to using WSL
not an issue with my windows install on a separate hard drive
uninstall windows
ensure gentoo installed
>willingly enabling bitlocker AND not backing up the encryption keys
Biz laptop, should've know they had set it up, I hope I'm not fricked.
Here goes nothing...
in that case your company should have them if you need them i guess, well good luck
>Biz laptop
Oh for frick sake
Wipe the whole SSD by issuing an ATA SECURE ERASE then contact IT and claim ignorance
>Biz laptop
ahahaha it's always biz or school gear these morons are using
you're fricked. not only are you fricked, it's been recorded. the reason your windows lost its bitlocker keys is because a policy triggered the deletion of the keys when you fricked with the boot systems, which lit up a notification on their management consoles that you've attempted to install unauthorized software. your IT people already know and are probably talking to your boss or bosses about how you've likely either been tricked into installing malicious software on their computers by someone online, or seem to believe that company property is your personal property to frick with. both bad.
>Biz laptop
you fricking idiot
yes, that happens with newer windows laptops
they literally come out the warehouse with bitlocker enabled
jeets dont know about it so they will try gaslight you into thinking you knowingly set up bitlocker
found one:
What the actual frick?
There's no realistic way to restore the PCRs, I don't think.
Maybe if you boot from a live system, delete the Linux partition and resize the Windows one back to what it was?
And also change the Windows bootloader configuration, however the frick that's controlled these days.
>they literally come out the warehouse with bitlocker enabled
I get why (protecting Joe Sixpack Normie) but LMAO.
you dont need that windows partition
anyone who doesn't wipe the os the computer came with deserves what happens to them
It should have required you to save the Bitlocker key somewhere after you enabled it.
Think hard, anon.
he didn't enable it. he's fricking with his company laptop. his IT department remote wiped his drive keys once boot tampering was detected.
Oof... I guess he's fricked, then.
You're fricked, m8.
IQfy always claims Bitlocker encryption sucks over Veracrypt or whatnot, isn't there a way to crack it? Or just make the thing boot again really? What did Linux frick up?
I doubt it required manual intervention, it happened over the weekend
>not using troonix in wsl
>falling for troonix meme
Never install windows and linux on the same physical hard drive, keep them separated.
>you don't have your bitlocker keys.
Login to Microsoft site, they glow enough they back them up to your account.
Otherwise your data is gone
>Login to Microsoft site, they glow enough they back them up to your account.
well it was never about preventing /them/ from getting your data, anyone who though it was deserves what they get
>its not even his machine
Should used thumbdrive, sd card or ssd or hdd disk.
Be less moronic and more careful next time, literal moron.
won't boot and now asks me for the Bitlocker keys I don't have
give it back, tamil
microwave the ssd and tell them it died and you don't know why, you dumb moron
why are messing with a work laptop you don't own?
>Plug the microphone holes and keep my biz laptop in aluminum foil when I store it at home
>This moron just goes and tries installing another OS
nothign will happen to him but he will get yelled at. Imagine these fricktards thinking they can just install le loonix on a corporate laptop with windows, thinking nobody foresaw this happening, IQfy the technology experts , lmao
i should stop coming here
