Don't want creepy people coding where my kids play outside when you could be at home being more productive with a three monitor setup. I would fire you if i was your boss. Efficiency matters most

fingers is much easier and preferable for many apps
    Wrong.
open apps. No need to search for websites or open heavy programs.
What the frick is this even.
    >>Bank accounts open instantly with finger ID.
    Available on laptops.
times better for reading books and taking notes
Typing notes is faster than handwriting. Reading books is an actual tablet use case.
    >>Much more portable. Don't even notice it in a backpack
    Much more fragile.
and viewing images for research and other things is much better
What. Both devices have a screen.

      >Wrong.
Remember we aren't talking a keyboard and mouse. A trackpad is much worse than a screen for most things. Take Google Earth. Using a trackpad is annoying. Using your fingers feels natural.
      >What the frick is this even.
Get an iPad and a Laptop. From off to opening Google earth it takes not even a second for the iPad and probably 5 minutes for the laptop. If the laptop is completely dead add another 5 minutes for it to charge enough to start
      >Available on laptops.
      Not on your T60
      >Much more fragile.
I've never broke an iPad but I've broke every laptop I've owned.
      >What. Both devices have a screen.
It's easier to just instantly screenshot something and be able to just go to the photos app and read them all like a book. Using file explorer to hit the arrow keys through images in a folder is terrible experience

        >Using a trackpad is annoying. Using your fingers feels natural.
It's all the exact same gestures.
And why aren't we talking a keyboard and mouse? It's a laptop. It has a keyboard built in and using a mouse with one is very common.
        > From off to opening Google earth it takes not even a second for the iPad and probably 5 minutes for the laptop.
iPads don't turn off, so you're gaming it from the start. My laptop doesn't taken even 1 minute to get into Windows from a cold boot and it is 10 years old.
        >Not on your T60
I don't even know what you're talking about.
        >I've never broke an iPad but I've broke every laptop I've owned.
This is a you problem. Tablets are objectively less robust than laptops, so how are you breaking the laptops?
        >It's easier to just instantly screenshot something and be able to just go to the photos app and read them all like a book.
Faster on a laptop, I bet.

          >It's all the exact same gestures.
No it's not. You have to press down on a trackpad and different gestures for zooming and such. Try them both you will see
          > It has a keyboard built in and using a mouse with one is very common.
Because now you lost the whole point of portability and ease of use. Why not just take a whole desktop or extra monitors with you on vacation or the coffee shop?
          >so how are you breaking the laptops?
Screens break easier. Hinges break. Keyboards break. Batteries go bad. Overheating fans.
          >Faster on a laptop, I bet.
It's not faster and it's a much worse experience. Have you tried slideshow on file explorer? It sucks wiener.

            >You have to press down on a trackpad
Oh, you're thinking about a Macbook where you have to push down to click. Heh.
            >Because now you lost the whole point of portability and ease of use.
No? Mice are portable. And they're easy to use.
            >Screens break easier. Hinges break. Keyboards break. Batteries go bad. Overheating fans.
If you're breaking either of the first two, you're breaking a tablet. I've seen broken keyboards, but they were owned by kids who also broke the glass screens of their two-in-one devices.
            >It's not faster and it's a much worse experience. Have you tried slideshow on file explorer?
No. I use an application that doesn't suck.
File explorer is for navigating through files.

            >No? Mice are portable. And they're easy to use.
Okay you can use a mouse and keyboard on an iPad so now you have the benefits of both a laptop and iPad
            > you're breaking either of the first two,
No most of the screens breaking a laptop come from the act of closing the screen with the keyboard. Accidently leave the plug or an object when you close the laptop now you got a cracked screen.
            >you're breaking a tablet.
A tablet doesn't have a hinge wtf are you talking about?
            >No. I use an application that doesn't suck.
What do you use? It's impossible to be easier than hitting one button to screenshot and one button to view all your images while reading them like a book

            >Okay you can use a mouse and keyboard on an iPad so now you have the benefits of both a laptop and iPad
We're still trying to work out the benefits of the iPad.
            >Accidently leave the plug or an object when you close the laptop now you got a cracked screen.
            Ok, so moronation.
            >A tablet doesn't have a hinge wtf are you talking about?
            That wasn't the implication.
            >What do you use?
Nomacs. There's a literal key on your keyboard to take screenshots, and then you can just paste them into nomacs. No gestures, just button press, alt+tab, ctrl+v

Speaking of which: it so happens that a new macbook comes with a piece of paper that protects the screen and keyboard. How do I get more of these pieces of papers 'cause I'm too poor for the 60 dollar anti-glare magnetic removable thingy which seems more of a hassle anyway?

maybe if it ran MacOS it would be
but unfortunately I learned recently that MacOS has the calamitous anti-feature of allowing installation of applications from sources other than the App Store which Apple has assured me is dangerous and terribly insecure

It's just an overpriced giant smartphone, with no microsd slot, no jack output, no support for usb joypad, it can't use usb sticks without fricking up the files, you can't upload files on it without using stupid buggy iTunes software, videos that play everywhere won't have sound on it because Apple sucks, you can't install something Apple doesn't want you to install... Should I go on?

      This.
Applel doesn't just werk at all. iPhones are a joke in usefulness because they randomly will just not do a key feature. For example, to load an iPhone with music files I own, I needed to covert it to a lossy format that's proprietary. Literally why? Maybe I'm horribly out of touch w the youth somehow, but don't most people listen to music frequently on their phone? Also you have to use dogshit iTunes as mentioned. Returned that phone hour 2 of me trying it.

An iPad + keyboard is my ideal setup but it's still not a complete replacement for me yet. I want the ability to run chromium based browsers and not just safari and I also want to have full featured versions of apps like word that's feature compatible with their desktop counterparts. The form factor of a tablet is pretty nice, especially if I can slap a keyboard on and use it like a laptop.

You're so moronic, if someone shot you, I definitely would be fine with it.
Nobody is productive with tablets outside of ..what is it even? A monkey doing those weird memory tests that they are better at than humans???

I'm more than a little offended by their attempts to imply all other forms of art are obsolete because a stupid overpriced piece of glass is meant to replace them.
    It's so giga-corporate and sterile.
