It's outclassed by OLED in almost every way today. Some CRTs may still do better with fast motion, but that isn't relevant for anime's low framerate. For anime you want accurate vivid colors and a good brightness. OLED does that, and large high res panels are available and don't require multiple people to carry.
That was really only an issue with monochrome CRTs. Color CRTs don't obvious burn in, certainly nothing like OLED where you can see recognizable images.

>Color CRTs don't obvious burn in
I saw plenty of Color CRTs in the 90s with Windows 3.1 window borders burned in
[...]
Very old CRTs obviously do burn-in, he's talking about newer (post-2000) ones that only burn-in if you abuse them. LCDs also burn-in but that takes a lot of abuse as well, and some panel types are more vulnerable
Yes monitors are prone to burn it, I haven't seen it, but there is enough data to conclude that is the case. Modern-ish tv's and possibly some monitors have a sort of burn in protection built in, where it jiggles the signal on the screen, you can see it when stationary but it isn't noticed when you are watching movies or wtv. If anime is your only use case you wont need to worry about burn in (assuming fullscreen).

Using a CRT for 8 hours a day for a year exposes you to as much radiation as eating a few bananas. Unless you're so radiation sensitive that you're avoiding bananas because of it, you'll be fine.
Now maybe if you got a CRT from the 50s you might be onto something.
>most are 24fps with the actual animation being 8-12fps
Motion clarity is useless here >most anime are bright with little to no high contrast scenes but with lots of solid colour blocks with sharp lines in between
High contrast is useless here, certain phosphor masks will blur it worse than it would look on an LCD
OP please ignore this person. They are possibly referring to old school low definition CRT's, which are popular for retro gaming (and still very good at what they do). But for anime you'd likely want something with higher resolution. >most crts are 24fps
My HD CRT TV is 1080i @ 60hz
my VGA monitor is 1600x1200 @ 75hz and goes higher if I drop the resolution.
>high contrast is useless here
The contrast and brightness and mind blowingly good compared to any LCD I've looked at, it's not so much about the sharpness, rather the richness of the colour and the blackness of the blacks. >HOWEVER
I am not going to pretend OLED's aren't going to hit all the same marks I appreciate in a CRT for watching anime. So explore that option before you haul 200lbs of vaccuum tube into your apartment.

At least the based wood chopper isn't debating JXL VS AVIF
Its a fine choice, but there are certainly better options. At this point, the only reason anyone would want to use a CRT is because they just like CRTs.
you will have to have a nice day
Watching anime is never a good choice.
Watching anime is never a good choice.
Watching anime is never a bad choice.
Oh boy! It's a spiderman thread!
Read the manga, homosexual
A true fan will do both.
There is a time and a place for watching anime
The time is now
The place is here
no get a nice 240hz 1080p monitor

enjoy your burn in lmao

CRTs literally invented burn in

Old OLED got burn in quicker than a CRT. Today they seem less prone to it.
It's been so long I barely remember how to do this huh
Yes it great.
but photos don't do justice

One cannot die if one was never alive, life without the CRT is not life.
Spiderman posting used to be a lot easier before captcha and rhe 60 second lockout due to the vidya butts poster

Cartoons are for children
Men are just large children
Wrong. Adults have responsibilities. Overgrown children are the only people who have time for this childish crap

It is if you're watching a 4:3 aspect anime from a time period when CRTs were common.
Yes CRT's are a good choice if you have autism.
Old animes yes
Mordern animes no
Its a fine choice, but there are certainly better options. At this point, the only reason anyone would want to use a CRT is because they just like CRTs.
