Fence sitting is not how you go to hell. Probably a good step in avoiding it, if anything.
    >For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men? For when one says, “I am of Paul,” and another, “I am of Apollos,” are you not carnal?-1 Cor 3:3-4
And all of the details of how precise one's doctrine is, how you sit or stand or cross yourself, or even how great your faith is won't matter if you're cold.
    >And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.-1 Cor 13:2
And how do you show love? Is this another "thought" or doctrine? No, it's action:
    >Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.-James 1:27

Concern yourself with the state of your own soul, please, that's concern enough. These questions are worthless. Moreover, they indicate smallness of mind, spirit and heart, as though the God who promised the good thief immortality is some humorless banker demanding a payment on a loan. Rather, God wants as many people at the banquet as humanly possible. That's not to say that dogma doesn't matter, it's to say that we can't read the heart of the man who rejects it. Only God can.

You're attacking the God of many wannabe intellectual """christians""" here, beware of the cult like answers. When I pointed out on a Reformed FB group his heretical beliefs they suddenly morphed into the "judge not" crowd and made 10000 excuses for him being a heretic.

There are 1.5 billion Catholics though and 300 million Orthodox and like another 60 million Orientials and Coptics, and they all seem a lot more similar to each other than Protestants.

Except charismatic Catholics, who are very much like Protestants in many respects. And they're taking over the Church. Because God is working and nobody can not stop him. All of them know grace is everywhere, all of them know the Holy Spirit can not be manipulated or controlled by men, all of them know they don't need priests to do everything, all of them read scripture more than any other Catholic, and all of them are actual "trads" who resemble the earliest centuries of the Church that still prophesied and witnessed miracles. And the original Protestants are just as ridiculous. Reformed, etc.. Whether Catholic or Protestant, they all don this "stern dad larp" and are miserable inside and can only make everyone else around them miserable. These people hide deep pain and have no true joy. It is not the religion of Mary, the first member of the Church, who said "My soul magnifies the Lord!"

No one goes to hell for not knowing better. They can still serve God the best way they can.

            >charismatic Catholics, And they're taking over the Church.
Lol. There is nothing about spirituality there, only feelings, nowadays people like chasing those. If you ask on any Catholic online forum though, nobody really appreciates the 'charismatics'.

A lot of the nitty gritty probably isn't important enough to make much of a difference. I'm a Protestant, but I don't think believing the pope is supposed to be the temporal leader of the church is going to be make or break for God. I don't think it matters where you stand on the faith/works divide since if you're a devout Protestant you will be doing works. I do think certain churches have a better chance of properly guiding their worshipers. For example, the way icons are treated in Orthodox Christianity smacks of idolatry and in my mind is playing with fire.

    >You go to hell (a realm of unimaginable suffering) for all of eternity is you dont believe in God the exact right way
    >This right way requires you to spend decades studying various philosophical and religious issues and even then there is no clear right answer
This is like some sort of sick Saw trap. Eternal suffering is also an insane punishment for any wrong doing.

This. John Kramer seems to be in my mind the best analogy for the Christian/Muslim God. The Christian/Muslim worldview is imo the most dark, depressing and hopeless worldview ever produced. This is even more true if you believe in literal psycho doctrines like 'Extra Ecclesiam nulla salus'. According to them the ultimate end of creation is most people tortured eternally while a few elites enjoying paradise. That is the end result of Gods great work? That is what this all culminates up to? A sad spectacle that never ends with no chance of changing the situation. The Hindu God has a system where every soul is saved eventually and without violating freewill.

Depends on your perspective. While I don't believe in eternal torture, any way it shakes out, God's opinion is what matters.
