      Very true.

I moved to London and it was the best time of my life. Moved home and have regretted it since.

What made it such an improvement specifically to your life? Just because there are more bars and social gatherings? Is it really worth spending money on all that if you're not already rich?

        It's the people.

Like the OP pic says, people in mid tier cities are dumb and have no goals or ambition. Very boring to talk to and can't relate to them.

          Anonymous

Are the people that different? I grew up in towns with 50k people (military) and the people were often really friendly, although religious. Moved a few years ago to somewhere with 500k people (Arizona) and it's the same low ambition but people are very rarely friendly. If anything I notice most people have dead looks in their eyes and often, people try really hard to be clones of another to "thrive". Exact same haircuts, outfits, everything. At least in small towns people find joy with their families and low stress commutes and LCOL etc. But then again, I never lived in a genuinely big city.

Yes the people are very different.

In London I found it so easy to make friends and they were working in fields like finance, music, tech. Always had good conversations about interesting topics. Always got invited out to go to interesting places and events on weekends.

Now in my mid tier city it's kind of like you describe, people dumb, dead eyes, clones of each other (making it here means being a slightly better clone than everyone else). Just depressing. I haven't made any real friends here, even though I'm back in my own country.

I want to leave and move to a top tier city again.

Thanks for the insight anon. Maybe I'll try moving to one of these cities one day, but for now thinking i'll just move back to a small town for LCOL and dump everything to crypto. At least back in my home town it wasn't so depressing and even though no one has ambition, I found myself happier around the simple folk and fresh air. Ideally one has both access to top tier cities and simple secluded towns imo.

, all of that shit's only worth something to you if you're a homosexual. I've lived all over the world, and I'll tell you you're not missing out on anything. I can understand you thinking you need to go to shitty bars with a bunch of homosexual "friends" who make shit music if you're in your early twenties, but once you hit your late twenties, early thirties and done all the drugs, and seen all the bars with all kinds of homosexuals you'll understand how great it is to slow down in a small town. I'm in a place with 30k people now and it's the BEST place I've ever lived. Natural beauty all around me, I live in a big house for the same amount of money I spent on small studio apartments. Small city vibes are awesome, you tend to see the same people at events, and around town, it's like living in an RPG. It's fricking awesome. If you're still in your partyboy, discovering yourself phase you wouldn't get what I'm saying if you came here though.

How did you find the right small town to live? Near family or did you just travel to find a hidden gem? I'm personally looking at pic related Durango, CO.
            >I live in a big house for the same amount of money I spent on small studio apartments

            >How did you find the right small town to live?
Research, and you have to go there before making the move no matter how many Redditors and Youtubers say the place is awesome. I almost got fricked right before finding the place I'm at now. It was another town 50 kilometers from here. You couldn't find a single bad remark about it online, only positives. So I was almost renting a place there via email and phone calls, but decided to have my girl check it out. When she got there she said it was the most backwards piece of shit she had ever seen, so she went to another town near there to spend the night before taking a plane back to our old city, and while she was there she explained our situation to the locals, and they told her about where I live now. She rented a car the next day and checked this place out and fell in love with it. Told me about it, and a month after we moved here. Now I wake up and thank God for my life every single day, because this placed is beyond great.

            >did you buy the home or just rent it
I rent. At least at where I'm at in life it's better to have my money on-hand than stuck on a house.

He's wrong, the big cities don't have shit to offer to a decent person. The natural beauty of the countryside beats anything the city has to offer. So what that there aren't bars open all night, and all variety of drugs available. Food delivery, Uber, all of that vapid shit. You don't any of that to be happy.

Sure, when you're trying to optimize for your own happiness (and you should, to some extent) you can achieve it in the countryside just as well as in the city, it only depends on what you value. But the OP specifically asked about the ability to build connections and figure out business trends, in which case being around more people with more varied opinions is undeniably an asset.

lol you have been watching way too much TV. I think its the complete opposite of what you are saying. City gays are very conformist, and have a womans mentality of trying to fit into society rather than make society fit into their standards. NPC gays everywhere with the same opinions, the same tattoos, the same fricking weird beta way of communicating with the intent of being as non threatening and non polarizing as possible. On the opposite end of the spectrum you have swamp people. Isolated rural people who do their own thing, march to the beat of their own drum. Tend to have developed a good sense of humor because they don't have endless entertainment at their fingertips. Don't give as much of a frick about judgment from other people.

They're not very nice and just as hateful as rural people. Their hatred is just acceptable. I'm not even rural. I'm from the suburbs in a major metropolitan area on the coast, but it amazes me that they can't understand why their rhetoric would offend Americans in rural or flyover areas. It's braindead. Especially considering they're go out of their way not to offend a poor non white person. Obsessed with the feelings of non whites, but absolutely zero empathy for white people who don't live in the city or on the coast.

    true
    >citygays are more likely to make it
false, they are just as moronic as ruralgays, they just work in offices and make a higher wage. per capita, they're just as unlikely to make it

    >t. has lived in both the city and rural

I've met more interesting and wealthy people on the ski lift and in the wilderness backcountry than 10 years of living in DC.

Phoenix is a flyover shithole and if you're unironically trying to imply that it isn't, you need to have a nice day immediately

I don’t take career advice from men who have to resort to gay pornography to pay the bills.

Isn’t the meta to live in suburbs just outside of mega cities? Bask in the fruits of suburbia while avoiding big city woes. Maybe go out for a weekend every now and then.

Big cities certainly have utility and can be a good place to move to, but as you may be able to tell from the drama queen way that he writes, this guy is a literal gay prostitute who does gay for pay

    >Is it worth living in big cities to figure out business trends, build connections, etc?
In theory yes, but you'll find that a lot of "business people" are insufferable and it's nothing like how it used to be with business deals. Now everything is commodified with 3 lawyers involved so it's a dog and pony show among people already in a high station.
You can get lucky and be able to provide value to someone with a semi-specialized skillset, but the majority of businessmen will outsource whatever you do unless you need a clearance or can do it with more value than anyone available online.

To be cool and fit in. This bloke must be a huge homosexual to not fit in and make lifetime friends in a rural environment. Rural people are by far the best people to hang around with and talk shit with. City c**ts are insufferable as a general rule

Moving from coastal Newport Beach to a small town was a huge mistake for me. The locals don't trust anyone under 3 generations of residence and talk shit nonstop like high schoolers in a locker room. They may not be homosexuals who suck wiener but they are homosexuals of the soul.

Why would you obsess over trying to Hustle in NYC when you can make more just sitting on crypto and tech stocks?

Its not about size, its about how "cosmopolitan" your social circle is. I can go to a ski lodge in the mountains of colorado and get better business insights with the millionaire boomers there than a social party in NYC with a bunch of wagie tier morons.

If the opportunity presents itself, nearly every young adult is better off moving to a big city. The 2 most important things for young adults are career progression and dating. If you aren't in a big city you will be crippled in both of these aspects.

I've lived in smaller towns most of my life and it's awful. 90% of jobs here are retail and restaurants. There's barely any cushy office jobs and, of the few that exist, the pay is much lower than the city and raises are a rare occurrence. Any moron in a big city can make $100k+.

Dating is even worse. If you try to boot up tinder, you're only going to find at most 10 actual, attractive women in your area. If you're lucky, and there aren't any chads in your small town, the women will just increase the range and date some chad in a city an hour or 2 away. Meanwhile you can't do the same because every girl in the city can easily date exclusively within the city.
