It's not, IQfy is has a ton of screaming /misc/ morons and people with bad analytical skills. The couple of people who aren't morons and aren't /misc/ hive minders, can find enjoyment besides the surface level. The rest of IQfy cannot, they find enjoyment in a yuppie, possibly committing terrible crimes and nothing else. It could be our book if you mean overall popularity, but in terms of everything pertaining to the actual book, absolutely not
I've seen so many /misc/ people praise this book as if it speaks to them, even though its critque of pretty much everything they care about. So I was getting flashbacks of that when OP said it's /our/ book

ackshually ellis has in more recent interviews said its basically his personal schizo fantasies from when he was living the new money New York lifestyle after his initial success not too unlike the main character
Have we done IQfy books for every board yet? Here are some preliminary ideas for the more obvious ones but would be cool to do a group list/chart: >/b/ = Naked Lunch >IQfy = J R >IQfy = American Psycho >IQfy = Sun and Steel >/misc/ = Mein Kampf >/LULZ/ = Notes from the Underground >IQfy = Gravity’s Rainbow >IQfy = Infinite Jest
There’s not really much evidence Patrick is gay, I think it’s a possible reading and makes certain aspects more interesting but as a whole I think it would make the satire less effective. Also Bret appears to bi in sexual attraction but romantically gay, and also one of those famous boomers (like Spacey) who happened to come out at as gay at a convenient time to shift controversy. Not accusing him of using it cynically but one might be surprised how often we are pressured into our “identity” by others, the safety of a convenient label to give you relevance and shield you from the vicious Twitter mob is certainly more expedient than complete fidelity to our own sexual identity, which is in itself can be so changeable and uncertain that claiming any label is not much of a lie even if it’s certainly not true.
Relatable post. Don't google the clothing brands, anon. I'm also one of those slightly OCD googling readers, who feels they have to be learning something every time they read so I look up whatever word I'm unfamiliar with, but the interesting part of this book compared to others is that most of what is being invoked is consciously bullshit by Ellis. You have no reason to care about luxury clothing brands so you shouldn't look them up. I did look up all the songs mentioned in the book on Spotify/YT so I could understand what he was referring to, but those are also being purposefully invoked as bland, commercial, simplistic, generic. Also note in future that although googling things I think is actually a good habit, there is some sense in getting out of the habit of googling absolutely everything. Of course it's difficult because sometimes you don't know whether something is going to be informative or not before you google it, but it's worth remembering that you can still learn about a word from the context its being used in, so just quickly ask yourself before you google whether the context of the passage tells you enough about that specific reference already and whether a Google search will only confirm what you already know or provide useless details as opposed to inform or educate you.
>No one respects him or cares about what he says, no one takes him seriously >Feels the need to always be right, always has to be the center of attention, always has to one up everyone >Jealous miserable frick who is not happy as long as another human being has something he doesn't or does something better than him >Takes out his malding rage on people who can't defend themselves, always punches down because he is a coward >Is easily brought to the point of tears, has nervous breakdowns over meaningless shit >Has no personality of his own, does everything to fit in, tastes dictated by whatever society says is good >Despite having "everything" he is still a hapless, joyless frick
I've seen plenty people like that on this board.
So let me get this straight: if I write all my horrendous murder/rape fantasies not as low-effort anonymous posts on a chinese cartoon forum, but as a whole book and say that I'm criticizing society, not only I won't get sent to therapy, I also have a shot at being considered a respected author?

Remains of the day
Catcher in the Rye
Notes from underground gets that title
>incredibly insecure

>obsessed with appearance despite dressing like shit
It’s IQfy, not IQfy

It’s on the sticky charts if you ever bothered to look
No. Pat is a rich frick slumming as a mere executive and gay. We are poor as frick and either in denial or "straight."

Yes
The IQfy book is Notes from Underground. You cannot convince me otherwise.

>try reading American Psycho
>every time a piece of clothing is mentioned I have to stop reading and google it
>stop read American Psycho

No, it isn't, but it is a visual adventure.
Too much detailed sex scenes, they greatly overweigh the gore scenes in quantity
