Is it ethical for a web developer to accept a salary this high? How do you sleep at night knowing the amount of work you do is grossly disproportionate to what you are paid?

lmao stock options don't count as "salary", they're a benefit.
200k is already stupid high for the the amount of value you create, your job is a net negative on society.
Yes, 180k is enough for anybody
I make 180k. Problem is I have to support my lazy fricking wife and kids. It's honestly nothing, and I mean nothing, for someone in my position. I agree that if you're a young bachelor though it's insane.
How is $180k nothing? That's over $10k a month after taxes. You'd have to be some kind of moron to not be able to comfortably support a family of 4 on that.
People want to keep up with the Jones.
Luckily, I set my bar at homeless people, so I'm good.
why is it disproportionate if literally billions of people use your product?
those companies want to stay on top of the competition and make sure they have the best people working for them.
Because there's nothing even remotely difficult about writing javascript for websites and any half moronic 3rd worlder could do your job just as well as you if not better. Your position comes solely from a combination of luck and nepotism. A construction worker's job is more difficult than yours, both physically and intellectually.
There's plenty of skill and effort involved in writing performant, scalable applications.
If you have to pay someone one million a year to make your application 0.1% better it's worth it if billions of people use it. Sorry, if economics is too hard for you.
Also lol at construction work being more difficult. Something being physically exhausting doesn't make it more difficult.
Construction work is more intellectually stimulating than 99% of the work that modern "programmers" do.
1. no
2. doesn't matter because that's not how wages are determined
I don't think you even know how to code
>Also lol at construction work being more difficult. Something being physically exhausting doesn't make it more difficult.
You can't even imagine what they have to do to build 20+ story towers.
this is the ultimate in sour grapes. The sourest even.
Wait until you see how much CEOs are paid compared to how much actual work they do.
>Is it ethical
Black person, subhumans in south america and elsewhere are killing each other for 10$ a day yet here you are lamenting over your wage being too high. Do you want to switch places with them?
On a very expensive bed in a quiet bedroom with no roommates.
> How do you sleep at night knowing...
Comfortably.
