Saddest part is that you're not even paid to shill while Alphabet makes billions successfully monopolizing all aspects of the web AND being the israelites you consent to give your data to. Cuck.

You're all zoomer c**ts here, but I remember when MSIE had 90-something% of the browser market which allowed Microsoft to give zero fricks about w3c standards and instead forcing their own, absolutely terrible de facto standards by simply implementing them in the IE. This is Google's endgame, except they also control a massive chunk of global web traffic.

I'm also old enough to remember when Chrome first came out and they tried to force it down everyone's throats on every single page of every single Google service, which is how it got its critical mass in the first place.

        Frick them.

My main complaint with Firefox is that extensions tend to be months if not YEARS out of date compared to the Chrome versions.

My secondary complaint is that hardware acceleration is hit or miss. Sure it does work, but it doesn't feel faster than Chrome at best (benchmarks can prove it) and at worst you get shit that crashes a tab.

Why would I do that when I have the Facebook app? I don't need to cherry pick the shittiest most bloated example of a website to try to make my mobile browser shit itself. I'm only going to use things like that on my PC which will do a much better job handling them. Phone browser is for light shitposting and other menial tasks. Firefox for Android plus uBlock Origin is more than enough for my needs.

            >Why would I do that when I have the Facebook app
            For the adblock?
Because installed apps can scan your phone?
Because the Facebook app specifically was caught injecting their own certificates to perform a mitm attack and read users encrypted traffic, not just within the app but all traffic on their phone.
I dunno I wasn't expecting a Firefox user to actually have Facebook.

try a chrome based browser on android for like 5 minutes and you'll see what i mean. im using cromite right now and everything loads so much faster and feels a lot smoother when scrolling and switching pages

          Anonymous

NTA, but I can't use Cromite because the guy who forked it from Bromite refuses to support Android 6. So I'm stuck with Firefox for the foreseeable future.

          Anonymous

          >switching pages
No, that's the main performance thing chrome sucks at. Tabs are hardcoded to load lazily and in an effort to save VRAM it constantly re-compiles textures from the DOM. Otherwise yeah chrome is way faster and smoother.

No, you're thinking of iOS and Safari. In Android's case not even WebView and Chrome share any libraries at runtime.

        Anonymous

No, you're presumably thinking of Apple. Every browser on iOS is just using WebKit and so Firefox for iOS is just some Firefox-branded shell around Safari essentially.

My only problem(from a list of problems actually) with Firefox is many of my bank sites and several business sites really hate Firefox for some reason. Usually its just if you don't update Firefox after a certain period, they get pissy and either block you or the site breaks however, no other browser has this problem and I don't mean not updating Firefox for years but just a few months. Too many times I see sites do something like

    >"Your browser is either out of date or not one of the preferred browsers. Please use one of our preferred web browsers or Update Firefox to the latest version"
    >Fire up old windows 7 PC that hasn't had updates since it was installed
    >Open up Internet Explorer 11
    >Go to the same link
    >Site works perfectly with 0 error messages

I have no clue what certain sites have against Firefox to where an outdated browser like Internet Explorer gets the "OK" while Firefox needs to be updated within a certain time period ie, few months.

Report them to webcompat.com, a site ran by Mozilla to keep Firefox functioning on as many sites as possible.

Firefox devs are aware of discrimination by Chrome-brained developers and you should defend your right to use Firefox. I've had to argue with Tesco to keep using Firefox on their site. But even though I use Firefox on as many sites as possible I had to concede defeat for adobeconnect.com as Firefox itself doesn't support all the features on it.

We're living in a world where a "hello world" website requires downloading and evaluating 3MB of JavaScript in 16 files served from 11 different domains (8 of which are botnet), so that it can make 7 XHR requests to further 5 different domains (4 of which are botnet), so that it can assemble and render '<p>hello world</p>' piece of HTML.

100% of problems I encounter with some sites on Firefox are caused by either:
    >FF resisting botnet and blocking some of those requests
    >FF actually adhering to CORS policies and blocking some of those requests
    >FF resisting fingerprinting and angering the botnet which then refuses to serve some of those requests

Friendly reminder that if you say "frick it, I'll just use Chrome", you're only exacerbating the problem.

It went downhill once they started rewriting core parts in rust. Do not give rust trannies an inch.

      Anonymous

"As to Rust, there’s a lot of it in Gecko. Tokei counts 1.8 million lines of Rust code in the mozilla-central repository. (This includes crates.io and git dependencies, since Gecko uses cargo vendor to keep them in-tree.) Compare with 11.4 millions lines of C and C++ together. Parts of this are two Rust components that come from Servo: Stylo (aka Quantum CSS) and WebRender (aka Quantum Render). WebRender is not yet enabled by default on Android, but might be soon."

      Anonymous

I've been using FF exclusively since it replaced NN too, but it didn't replace it directly, AFAIR. First was a NN-based browser called Mozilla which was slow and bloated as frick from what I remember. Then there was a small and fast Mozilla fork called Phoenix which was pretty cool. That then got forked (or maybe just rebranded) to Firebird, and that got later rebranded to Firefox for some reason.

Then Google made Chrome and was shilling it on every page of their search engine, gmail, maps and all of their services (they didn't have youtube yet) which was so fricking irritating that I decided then and there that I will never use it, and I never did.

Thanks for reading my boomer blog.

        >rebranded to Firefox for some reason
Firebird was already being used by a database engine.
