But the recruiter will only read the first 10-20 applicants and they’ll likely hire the first person they interview so your point is moot.

I’m exiting tech this year and quite literally never going back. The high salaries can frick themselves. I’d rather be broke and using my hands.

You’re not meant to apply on these linkedin pages, you’re main to e-mail the recruiter or boss directly

Also, lol to this. Direct emailing anyone gets you instantly put on the “creepy and desperate” list.

Explain how i got my first 2 job interviews by mailing the bosses directly after uni.
Granted im not in tech im in civil engineering

        >Direct emailing anyone gets you instantly put on the “creepy and desperate” list.
I got my first real job from basically emailing the CEO and asking what the frick is wrong with their company because they didn't respond to my application while still looking for applicants

You know you’re really quite cynical for having this mentality
        Maybe its an american thing
Here most people wanna help younger people. If someone young asks for a reaching hand older people will give them an honest answer and feedback.

I dont feel bad for them.
Those companies make business all over the world, majority of their revenue is probably not from USA
Why would they give american developers a leg up? They care about their own profits not american citizens

just their presence will lower tech salaries. accounting for inflation tech salaries are already way lower than they used to be. During the original tech bubble you had people with 2 weeks of HTML experience making 6 figures

You're talking out of your ass. Sponsoring H1B isn't something that any company can do. Burguers are only hiring inside the US and people with authorization to work. Go to any job board and look up the requirements.

If you didn't get a SWE job in 2021-2022 and hold on to it then you're absolutely fricked for the next few years.

Everyone was saying the market was already shit by 2022. Which means that peak is not enough to absorb all the jeets with a CS degree.
And what makes you think there will be another peak? The bubble is burst.

I don't think we have 5 times more phones/computers than in 2020 so unless we get another Corona meme where people stay inside this is the correct level of job openings.
Yet the 2022 peak was not enough to use up all the Jeets which means you tech soibois are fricked.

The job market was garbo but you'd get one or two callbacks in a while. Now you get none.
But if you're in burguerland w/ authorization to work or in the EU you can get a job pretty easy. You just have to sidestep all the pajeet spam. You do that by going physically to the company if possible, or contacting their hiring manager directly. Also, lots of companies are posting on-site positions only. Burguers and EU went full protectionism mode.

As a recruiter, fewer than 0.5% of those are actually employable, so your competition is about 70 people not 13k

      Anonymous

But how do you reasonably sift through that many applications to find the .5%? I feel like after looking through the first 100 you’re tired and will pick the best candidates for interviews in that batch.

That's why you don't just ask for the CV and include a form for them to fill. Most of them will fail even the most basic of autofilters.

I really am surrounded by autistic homosexuals here. Imagine being a computer scientist data engineer, comp engineer wtf. Only complete homosexuals are interested by that stuff. Back to work hunched over at the desk burning your eyes out for 10 hours a day wagie homosexuals.

No wonder why everyone needs to make it here so bad, you need to compete with chad who makes 50k a year and still has 10x better chance than you 100k+ autists with shit bodies and shit faces. lmao

I'm learning to program for fun. I don't even know why you guys would want to get paid to do this... That would suck all of the joy out of it.

Hasn't sucked the fun out of it for me, I've been writing code since I was like 10. In fact, ever since my first co-op (paid internship) I've been thrilled that there are people who will actually give me money to write code all day. I did it for free, did it broke, did it tired, did it for $100k, not gonna stop doing it. 12 year old me would be over the moon with the way things turned out

Doesn't the attached expectations and feedback make it feel like work? I suppose if you have a ton of autonomy it wouldn't matter. If so, you're living the dream.

Wish I discovered it when I was younger. Feels like the hobby I've always been missing.

in the future "programmers" and "tech jobs" won't even be a thing. programming is basic computer literacy nowadays, along with data analytics and statistics. if techies are doomed white collar non-tech jobs are uber doomed.

You could argue that LLMs are gonna make it easier for average joe to build software but saying that it's going to be basic computer literacy is like saying vector calculus is going to be basic math literacy.

Little reminder that a group of Stacy's are literally every HR department of every medium to large size company. They just flip through applications like they do Tinder and gossip about the applicants. "Omg Stacy look at this creep. He has the qualifications but I can't work with a guy like that in the same building haha, just no haha"

I work in finance but I’m friends with a lot of the back office people too. I got my buddy a job as a data analyst at my company. The recruiter told me that every time they put up a job ad for an entry level data analyst position that pays $65k they get like 300+ applications within a few hours.
