when a zoomer has to click a button before something works so instead he buys a paid subscription to the "you won't have to click the scary button" service

it's easier to use calibre than it is to deal with amazon

this is literally all you need. pdfs suck sometimes but calibre automatically converts to kindle format when you load an ebook format onto one

Kindle does that for you by under paying authors. Besides, you're probably one of those "MUH HECKIN LIBRARIES" gays (i.e. it isn't that different from downloading and deleting a book and your stealing from taxpayers by propping up an obsolete cash suck that serves mostly as a place where poor people too dumb to stream rent DVDs and homeless people can jerk off in the bathroom).

      audible is a scam

I heard you can only have one book a month on Audible, which seems like incredible horseshit.
If I'm paying, I should just get everything, and no limitations. How is your paid service worse for customer satisfaction than piracy?

I tried the free trial. I assumed (like a fricking rube) that there would be a selection of free books. But no, it's just price caps the ebooks at $9 and you only get one free book per month.

If you want to pay for a service that's actually worth the price, then check out scribd.

10.99 a month for free access to basically anything on the site, which includes ebooks, audiobooks, magazines and academic documents. Also, very important, it's been separated into three different sites, scribd, everand and slideshare. everand is where all the ebooks are. You get access to all three sites with one subscription.

so, I think it's an extremely good service for the price (if I ever fricking used it). Also just found out you can pause the subscription whenever you want, so that's nice.

I had a subscription 5 or so years ago. I paid monthly and got a 'credit' for each month. That credit could be used to purchase any audiobooks I wanted on their platform. I had the basic subscription but there were others that cost more and gave you more credits each month. The subscription was a little less than the cost of your average audiobook so it's basically buying an audiobook on discount each month.

I think I've heard they also have a Netflix-like model now where you pay monthly and get access to their whole library. The difference being that if you end the Netflix-like sub you lose access to everything where with the credit system you continue to own the books you used your credits on even after you end your subscription.

I think it's really only worth it if you read romance/ erotica or light novels/ gamelit/ litrpg stuff. And if you read multiple novels per week.

Personally, I download epubs from libgen, convert them from epub to AZW3, put the files in a 2011 4th gen kindle that is logged out and in airplane mode at all times. In minecraft.

Install koreader for the best of both worlds, native epubs and you can still read azw3 and mobi

      >convert them from epub to AZW3
What's the difference between the two?
I download books from Libgen and PDF Drive and read them on Readera on my phone. PDF looks so much better but the letters are smaller than I wish they were, meanwhile with epub i can change the size of the letter and even the font but it doesn't look good at all. I wish there was some middle ground to this.

The difference that concenrs me is just that a 2011 kindle won't know what an epub is.

been looking that shit up and i'm not liking the way it gives you 35% (unless you put your ebook for 2$-9$~, then you can access the 70% ~~*benefits)) that removes some of that percentage if someone wants a physical copy of the book.)

amazon will also own your trademarks and copyrights for your book, so good luck setting up sequels. the wisest thing to do there is just build your pen name through different types of book with the same genre.

I subscribe for the trial with a new account every time, grab what I want and then pass it through Calibre + DeDRM plugin and keep it forever, then I cancel the subscription before the trial ends.

I used to "borrow" books from them, rip the DRM and then convert to epub
