Hello, IQfy here, I heard this game is spyware, can anyone here run some tests to prove or disprove this info? Thanks.

You're allowing kernel level cheat protection and you're worried about spyware!
The only game with kernel level anti cheat that I ever installed was Elden Ring and that was an exception because it’s the greatest game of all time
I have offended you and I apologise.
>it’s the greatest game of all time
take it easy bro
Regular KSP is based, I've owned it for years and it runs on Linux and has no DRM.
Enhanced edition (complete) looks like it's console-only. Therefore, it's inherently shit.
Thoughts on this image?
Wow a game you need to purchase requires your information like any other online purchase.
Wow the games mod shop will obviously look at the internet and share an IP with the server
Wow the optional hardware feedback form is optional
Wow the optional social media BS and twitch intergration shit is optional
This is made by some butthurt turbo autist who's mad their indie clone of KSP didn't work or they got mad their save file got corrupted. Technically any game you buy on steam is capable of doing everything listed some even always do that shit.
Holy frick you're stupid
>KSP has known advertisements on google!
whoop dee frickin doo, what shit doesn't
>source code is not available
was never an open source project to begin with, same with half life but everyone loves that
You seem really mad for some reason, are you one of KSP’s devs?
Nah just hate people falling for such obvious fricking bait
No need to accuse him of being a dev. Consumerist morons are everywhere, and they hate having it pointed out that they were too stupid to read a simple privacy policy that explicitly asks for way too much info and explicitly tells you that said info will be passed around like a freshman prostitute, so they lash out against anyone who dares to mention their mistake. It's an unfortunately common display of immaturity.
So it is spyware?
It's spyware if you want to shitpost a bunch about it for (you)'s
It's a normal unity game if you want to actually look at it for .5 attoseconds
Neither side can provide any proof of any of their claims…
Yes, undeniably so. Please note that the people in this thread arguing against the label of "spyware" aren't actually refuting any sort of proof of the game's wildly invasive data collection, they're just also pointing out that other games do it too. Imagine if you asked if eating Twinkies was bad for you, and the only two answers you got were "yes" and "THAT DOESN'T MATTER! PLENTY OF JUNK FOOD IS BAD FOR YOU! STOP TALKING ABOUT IT!"
It also runs on unity (aka C#) and last I checked, the code wasn't obfuscated
Anyone with a decompiler can just check and change shit, now if only there were people dedicated to checking and MODifying the source code... nah, can't think of any, OP must be right
>Engine Unity
>why don't the give out the source code
This place gets more flooded with moronic zoomies every day
What’s wrong with unity?
Nothing but if they licensed the engine to develop their game on they aren't going to frick themselves legally and provide the source code. The only dumb think KSP devs did was support the 32 unity engine for so long.
Burden of proof is on the accuser not the accused. Enjoy the (you)
See
Yes I looked at it, you could copy and past most of that into anything else and it would still be true, you could simply pop in GTAV/CS2/Apex Legengs/etc there and the rest of the document would be true. People just go "holy hekkin terms of service!" sometimes because no one reads them, congrats on being dumb enough to fall for low effort bait.
But just because other devs do it as well it doesn’t mean it should be accepted. You still haven’t proved that the claims in the image are false.
How do you know that?
Prove that the accusations in the image are factual first, like how KSP has end user photos of the entire playerbase.
The sources are in the image, my dude. I’ll even link the page to make it easier for you:
https://spyware.neocities.org/articles/ksp
Anon, the devs already explain this in the first web archive link. The vast majority of the shit listed in the OP that they need to collect is simply required for banking purposes to purchase their game..
The system info pop up is basically that of the steam hardware survey, optional
Of course a server will see your IP and GEO location based off the IP request to their server
Yes social networking is a thing because the devs allowed people to intergrate twitter/fb/twitch into KSP if you chose to
Go back to fricking /x/
Steam has the serial numbers of unrelated USB hard drives I used in 2009 lol as well as the serial of every controller I ever plugged in while steam was running
omg what if steam hacks ur files?
What does security have to do with privacy?
The first link is literally where they got most of the shit for that article which Take-Two was only the publisher for the console releases. Not sure how that is relevant to anything, that's a standard ELUA for any company.
>but I don't like it
don't play it then
The second link is some schizo anon who seems to have shat up the entire thread with random posting who can't fathom some identifiable information needs to be collected to process payments for any bank transaction, such as... Buying the game.
The 3rd post basically says they REMOVED a questionable piece of software for anti-piracy AFTER a completely unrelated product and company discovered it was violating their EULA. This was not unique to them and anyone playing the pre-2018 version of this game is beyond fricking moronic.
Your entire 'source list' is fricking garbage, again this seems to be made by some angry indie dev who's mad their game didn't become the next KSP like hit. Again might want to actually read what's there zoomie rather than IMAGE SAY THING!
>visit us at the git repo on codeberg
>codeberg
OI Vey.....
>Kerbal space program does not make its source code available.
Isn't KSP 1 built on Unity? How the frick would they even be allowed and who would think that would be any reasonable thing a person developing a game would do.
I promise you KSP does not have a photo of me
It's not spyware. It just invades your mind.
the old version is fine. and honestly it isn't much different, you don't need additional content when the point of the game is "rocket go up, kerbal lives don't matter"
those green fellas made a big mistake putting me in charge. anyways did anyone else find that weird black, floating monolith not far from the launching site?
>buy used xbox series s
>create a throwaway israeliterosoft account
>go to the store and purchase a $50 (probably too much but whatever) xbox card with cash
>do the needful and redeem it, buy the game
>once its done downloading, disconnect the console from the internet entirely (you could remove the wireless card, but then you'd have to use a USB cable for the controller)
>have fun
worked for me
also i know you gays will complain about the ZOGbox but good luck building a pc with used components for $180 that can play the game at 1080p/60
you can also use a mouse and keyboard. i use a controller because im a moron
>mutt israelitetuber buys parts with USA used prices
>says it's possible
Absolute state of desktop gays.
Everyone is ok with spyware suddenly.
You're allowing kernel level cheat protection, in a single player gayme, and you're worried about spyware
In FromSoft we trust.
I mean every new game with internet connectivity made in the past 15 years logs your hardware details. Serial numbers of every component and USB attached device, Mac addresses and monitor edid. Some probe your local network. Even indie games made with unity collect shitloads of details. Most games also run Google analytics and/or redshell in the background to build a marketing profile.it all links together with windows and whatever driver software telemetry is on your system. Nvidia software is notorious for collecting and selling your data.
Proof of any of that?
do you live under a rock? this is why you do not run proprietary software unless in a vm.
That isn’t proof of anything. Also Linux is open source and it has a backdoor that shares all of your data with the CCP
Read the privacy policy of any recent game. Steam alone collects shitloads of data this is all well documented. Submit a gdpr request to steam and you can see all the data they collect
How can I submit a gdpr request to them?
https://help.steampowered.com/en/login/?redir=%2Fen%2Faccountdata
Says this is only for EU people, who do Canadians like myself do this?
You cannot play games without essentially doxxing your hardware and network. Xbox live, valorant, wow and many other games probe your network and log the Mac of every device it finds.
Proof?
If you play wow submit a gdpr request
Is it possible to bypass that data collection and still play the game?
Lmfao no look up wows anti cheat. It's incredibly invasive. It literally pulls random chunks out of your ram and uploads them for analysis
Not talking about wow, but normal games that don’t use anti cheat or denuvo like KSP.
Install and Play offline or don't give the game(or installer) network access
>or don't give the game(or installer) network access
How?
What happened to Kerbal Space Program 2?
Scope creep in goals and features
think it's still buggy af. 1 was also a bugfest
It was mostly
Mods that made 1 great weren't in 2
Mods that put great ideas into the game weren't adopted into 2
Rushed to launch and the physics were busted
The scope of things made launching a rocket laggy because the entire solar system was attempting to be calculated all at once
Reworked physics method rather than simply porting the code that was fixed in 1
Worse mod support
Stupid as shit progressive system for unlocks
