Is this actually good? I was thinking of reading either this or the netanyahus but got distracted

The Pale King is ultimately about the internet and a world inundated with information. I looked into Book of Numbers, the meta aspect seems a bit too much like City of Glass but the structure seems interesting, not sure if I will read it. Just got The Netanyahus and will start that in a few days and go from there.

Interesting. I thought it was about the IRS and boredom. I may have to check it out. I really enjoyed IJ but Broom of the System and his short story collections didn't do it for me.

Give it a shot, especially if you enjoy Infinite Jest. And BotS is not terribly good, he pretty much disavowed it. But I think Pale King has passages that absolutely surpass Infinite Jest even. You can really see the growth in his prose. I wholeheartedly believe it would have been his masterpiece if he'd have finished it.

On the plot level it is about the IRS and boredom, but the plot is nearly nonexistent and not at all the point.

But I think Pale King has passages that absolutely surpass Infinite Jest even. You can really see the growth in his prose. It is a masterpiece as is.

Nah, Cohen is way more serious and ambitious than MFA weenies. Whether he pulls it off is of course another question.
