Don't care about being contrarian or against e-celeb for the sake of it, it just works. Wasn't Linus shilling Mint or some other shit, but again who cares, I just want my shit to work.
Setting up audio was the hardest part of the process, In the end I forgot to enable the driver for my focusrite DAC. Grep this, modprobe that...worth it in the end because no p*lseaudio/snapd/canonical frickery
Pop OS for "just werks" Gnome
Mint for "just werks" Cinnamon/Mate/Xfce
Canonical on their own is an untrustworthy mess, both Mint and Pop do a nice job cleaning things up. "distro of a distro of a distro" besides the point, Canonical being a sloppy mess is exactly why Pop and Mint's existence is justified.
No. It's shit. Really, really shit. Canonical is *the* definition of NIH syndrome. Add to that the legacy that is apt and relying on the dying Debian community. Mint is the only Debian-based distro that is somewhat functional and has sane devs.
I've legit had less issues with Ubuntu over Debian.
Debian ships with plenty wonky ass configs for various software that are fixed on Ubuntu.
That said, Ubuntu does some stupid shit it self, but generally I have to put in less effort to get Ubuntu where I want it then I have to do with Debian, so thats all I really care about.
Weird that they chose to package dozens of desktop environments and window managers, a binary kernel with every possible feature and module enabled, and an init and process supervisor like systemd for embedded systems. You fricking clown.

there's a desktop environment on opensolaris too. Doesn't mean you should use it as a daily driver.

Would you just look at those goalposts fly! Debian went from an embedded OS to "not a daily driver" and it all took was me making you look like the shamefully ignorant fool that you are.

which it is, it is mostly used for very lightweight applications >to "not a daily driver"
You mistook my post you fricking monkey. Read it again. I said just because there is a desktop environment, doesn't mean you should use it as a daily driver. Some degenerate like you could happily install debian on a Raspberry Pi and use it as as a daily driver. Doesn't make it a good idea.
The name itself gives it away a little but this shit is Chinese, isn’t it?
That design is absolutely horrendous, like a chink Android theme stretched to desktop.
The devs are from Ireland - it ships with like 8 desktop layouts. They do try to israelite you into donating for the more polished 'Pro' ISO, but it can be found pretty easily.
Windows 10 debloated to make it faster and leaner is better than any linux distro. If I wanted to browse the web and watch videos id just buy a tablet.
No because you can just buy an x1 carbon for 200$ off ebay and put windows 10 on it and debloat it with privatezilla, replace all the media options with nomacs image viewer and mpv.
The only reason to ever use linux is in a tablet running either android or chromeOS.
>I ran a script without understanding anything it does, so now my system is blazing fast and super secure and totally didn't just open up every fricking port in my firewall so I could get buttfricked by third world peasants in addition to Micropenis
Windows users have been the same since 3.1 >hurrrrrrrrr durrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr you just click on the exe! where did I get it? from the worldwide web! so you know it's safe!
pretty much. Ubuntu LTS is the de-facto standard for Linux desktop, as it is pretty much trusted by every major corporation/business/tech company/anyone doing anything serious. Other distros like red-hat and opensuse are popular for headless servers, but when it comes to desktop, Ubuntu is the mother of them all. It's so good that everyone just copies it and claims they have a new distro every day. PopOS, Mint, Zorin, Elementary, KUbuntu, and a whole host of ugly and degenerate looking distros think they beat the system. But all they did is make the base Ubuntu an eye-sore. And don't forget, you get the largest community of fellow Ubuntu users that are always there to help you on askubuntu, etc. good luck getting anyone to give a shit when you're on arch/fedora or the motherless gentoo meme os when shit hits the fan. You'd be on your own. Ubuntu hits a sweet balance between stability and being current on all the software. It's not so bleeding edge that you are welcomed by a new bug every week that breaks the ground under your feet, yet it's not so ancient like the debian that you are using software from 2014 in 2022.
I tried Mint, Manjaro and Ubuntu and Ubuntu was ironically the only that didn't "just work"
there was some weird ass issue where everything would just freeze out of nowhere and I was forced to restart the computer entirely, and this was on a fresh installation as well
went back to windows tho, never fricked around with loonix since
Snaps are an issue
I don't have much of an issue with GNOME but still
apt is an issue, I think I never really had a good experience with it
Everything just "works" for someone, but not generally. This distro isn't different. Arch "just works" for me. I can see why some people would use something like Fedora instead.
Funny way to write Debian
Debian doesn't just work on newer hardware you have to backport a ton of shit from Sid and hope it doesn't break your system.
yes. Next question?
Pop OS

linus torvalds not linus tech tips
Arch + KDE = Bliss

They'd be going "sudo apt install steam Yes, do as I say!"
Pop OS for "just werks" Gnome
Mint for "just werks" Cinnamon/Mate/Xfce

Meme distro.
Where is Mint 21? Where is Cinnamon Wayland support? Sure they're sane but they're also slow.
using mint in 2022 is the meme, gaylord
The default is so ugly
it used to be, not any more though
gnome 3 is horrible (ubuntu tames it but its still bad)
and now snaps killed the entire *buntu family
mint is peak 'just werks' now
>and now snaps killed the entire *buntu family
I use Kubuntu 22.04 without Snaps.
>gnome 3 is horrible (ubuntu tames it but its still bad)
Ubuntu has been on Gnome 40 for over a year, moron.
This. Ubuntu went to shit waaaay back in 2010ish. Some morons are still catching up.
Example of moron:
get just works hardware and all ganoo loonixes just works
That new logo lmao
better than debian anyway
>snaps
>systemd
I don't think so, Tim.
No, that's Mint
no because you might as well install windows and have something that actually works and isn't budget windows with a ton of extra steps.
>extra steps
You canät really use that analogy on prebuilts VS custom machines.
this never works. they don't give a shit about desktopp anymore. use plain debian or redhat/fedora.
ubuntu is a cancer
I've legit had less issues with Ubuntu over Debian.

debian was never intended for desktop. It was intended for extremely reliability and extreme lightweight applications like embedded computers.
Weird that they chose to package dozens of desktop environments and window managers, a binary kernel with every possible feature and module enabled, and an init and process supervisor like systemd for embedded systems. You fricking clown.

More like Ubackdoor.
>just works
>every other snap package is broken in some way
inb4 just remove snap
why bother with a distro where i have to remove this shit if i can just use a distro that doesnt force it on me?
my motherboard WiFi doesn't work with Ubuntu LTS because the kernel version is too low
accurate. e450+ series with i7 are best
x220 can't even run gnome
I think it's Zorin
Why in gods name would you use that?
The name itself gives it away a little but this shit is Chinese, isn’t it?
That design is absolutely horrendous, like a chink Android theme stretched to desktop.

Zorin is named after a Bond villain
just use LMDE5 if you're a debian dude or mint bruh
LMDE5 choo choo!
Windows 10 debloated to make it faster and leaner is better than any linux distro. If I wanted to browse the web and watch videos id just buy a tablet.
or a Chromebook?

You can debloat Windows 10 but you can't de-Pajeet it. You might as well be using KDE.

If by peak, you mean nadir, and by "just works" you mean "unstable Debian but with some fonts and a color theme applied to Gnome", then sure.
No, that title goes to Google's ChromeOS. The easiest to use OS based on Gentoo.
I miss Cent OS.

No. None of these tryhard GUI distros actually work.
>google how to do thing

The Ubuntu experience.
Hasn't been for over 5 years. Nothing lasts forever Anon.
