You're the one desperately trying to justify the relevancy of a memelang using features it doesn't even have. I think it's pretty obvious who's actually coping

He's almost certainly going to add one.

Kek. A guy in the orange website was saying that Drew was "IQfy incarnate". I laughed while remembering Drew trying to use Markdown here some months ago.

It was just a comment about the chances of Drew DeVault selling out in the case of sr.ht becoming popular.
It's not unlikely. He has mentioned IQfy in the past.

Crypto library thing is kinda bad. But you also would have to be pretty dumb to use this for an actual project. Having this project is secret was dumb too, people hate new things

mjg is a fat fricking moron who doesn't understand a thing about computers
I think there's a good chance that he'll try to add a borrow checker but fail.
If he does manage it chances are that it'll be far more limited than Rust, I've never seen him talk about separating mutable from immutable pointers.
>everything just works
today i tried to install Ruby 3.1.2 and Ruby 2.7.4 at the same time on Debian (sid). it doesn't work because they require different versions of openssl. sometimes you do in fact need something like Docker (or Nix, Guix, or whatever)

have you tried using relevant languages, like JavaScript for webshit?
Please tell me more about the alternative universe that you live in, I would love to hear about it.

you're quite right, i misread it—but the same issue would presumably arise for anything other than NixOS or Guix (in the absence of Docker)

The only way to handle multiple versions of Ruby on a single system is using an external self contained shim like nvm for the crap that is Nodejs and Pyenv for Python (ironically, this one is a fork of a project similar made for Linux).

the issue specifically arose with asdf-vm, which wraps around rbenv's ruby-build (https://github.com/rbenv/ruby-build). there are workarounds (https://github.com/rbenv/ruby-build/discussions/1940), but it's all a bit shit
The Zig people themself commented that Hare looks much more minimalistic than Zig, so I guess you would use Hare if you valued minimalism in language design above anything else?
to expand on that, zig provides more tools for abstraction, but the development philosophy behind hare is to sacrifice briefness for the ability to jump into the code at any point and follow it to the lowest level without having to study many intermediate abstractions before
They are both useless languages because Ada exists. It's okay though. Some masturbation is perfectly healthy as long as it isn't taken to extremes. Then you get shit like Rust.
Zig is also a useless language.
Does Zig have a borrow checker (or at least plans to add one)? If it doesn't then no, Hare is superior to Zig.
kys you rustroony
but hare is getting a borrow checker
You can use that as a point of comparison when it actually gets it

Hare doesn't have a borrow check either and doesn't plan to add one
because Hare is meant for programmers who don't kill themselves the moment they get a segfault

kek, sure. Spoiler alert: Hare will never be borrow-checked.
Cap this! Hare will have a borrow checker. Drew is smart enough to understand it's advantages.
So, Hare will become yet another useless language like Rust. How great....
>Cap this!
You do it, gay. I don't cap every random unsourced delusion posted on IQfy. I'd run out of hard drive space in a week if I did.
>Hare will never be borrow-checked.
That's reason to use to Hare.
You want to use a language built by someone who wants borrow checking but isn't competent enough to accomplish it?
More like doesn't want to add an overcomplicated Rust-like one.
Thoughts on https://lwn.net/Articles/893327/ ?
Borrow checkers cause pain and suffering.

Are you fricking moronic?
I think there's a good chance that he'll try to add a borrow checker but fail.
If he does manage it chances are that it'll be far more limited than Rust, I've never seen him talk about separating mutable from immutable pointers.
By that logic you could just use C++ with optional checks enabled. Memory-safe C++ is possible with the right profiles.
Zig planned that yes, but i dunno if they are still going to do that
Do any of your troony languages have any meaning when C++, Java, FORTRAN, COBOL, JavaScript and C exist?
Literally NOTHING relevant was ever written in anything else.
TPBP
>troony languages
rent free
>free
your mother pays for it
tpbp /thread
there is absolutely NO reason to make any new nativearch compiled languages
>Literally NOTHING relevant was ever written in anything else.
you forgot about a certain rat
you forgot to name one relevant thing written in your meme language of choice
wait, don't tell me, it's not that you forgot huh...
- Docker
- A bunch of projects that are related to Docker
- Nothing else
Kubernetes
Docker
Terraform
Caddy
Syncthing
Tailscale
Packer
Nomad
&c.
so go is useless if my project isn't saas?
maybe
being a google language this is where go was meant to be used and has succeeded there
>Packer
Do gophers really?
Glenda is a transwoman, I suppose it's fitting for the blue critter to be a transman
No he didn't
The common brown rat?
Rats look like THAT?
>COBOL
>FORTRAN
Nothing relevant here.
>backbone of modern society is not relevant
okay zoomer
>muh docker
if webshits didn't use debian they wouldn't need docker because everything just works when you use a non-meme distro
>backbone of modern society
>cobol
ok, whatever kid
yes, moronic zoomer
Please tell me more about the alternative universe that you live in, I would love to hear about it.

Yeah that’s why try chads use runc
It’s useless unless your project has any sort infrastructure needs
Umm bun was written in zig sweaty
He was exposed as a fraud, no need to talk to him.

RUN AWAY
does zig have a bunny?
Zig has a ziguana
This is unironically a based trio. If only Rust wasn't infested with dickheads.
troony trifecta
Nonsense. Go is a White Man language.
hare has a very idealistic approach and has that air of some sort of unix/bell-like philosophy about it, i find that very comfy
to expand on that, zig provides more tools for abstraction, but the development philosophy behind hare is to sacrifice briefness for the ability to jump into the code at any point and follow it to the lowest level without having to study many intermediate abstractions before
is the idea of hare being "finished" at 1.0 good?
the scope is already deliberately limited so i think it makes sense

buni shill
both are useless since other languages exist.
>try
>catch
so bad
