Their designs are actually really nice. Trouble is it's almost always toys for hipster wannabes with more money than sense or talent.

I hope this doesn't kill Teenage Engineering.

Its overpriced shit, but it looks nice and is of decent quality.

I hope it does. It's such a stupid fricking product that it NEEDS to get shunted into oblivion as a reminder to morons to never make such a fricking moronic product again. It's literally an app that connects to their servers and that's it. No AI processing is done on the device. Nothing. At least Humane tried to do *some* processing on the device but this shit is just pure fricking scam. That company needs to get nuked.

      >hunk of cheap plastic
      >nice and decent quality

Teenage Engineering had nothing to do with this product other than their designers contracted to do the physical product design and some UI work. In no ways does the failure of this product impact the bottom line of TE, unless there is some liars (you) on the internet who think that they were the mastermind behind this hunk of junk.

its a stupid $200 not-android phone running a proprietary app
that sends voice recordings to an AI that converts it to text
to do a glorified google search and then read out the answer for you

Every unheard-of-out-of-the-blue startups making AI devices = grifters and scammers.
The Humane Ai (even the reason why they intentionally calls it Ai with a lower case i is proof of grifting and scamming to me) pin, that circular beer pong AI device and now this rabbit device are meant only to scrape off the foam from the top.
I wouldn’t personally buy any AI device unless its from an already established company such as Apple, Google, OpenAI, etc.

The weird thing to me is this is a device designed (physical appearance) by Teenage-Engineering. Because they have a nice footing in electronic music making devices like the Op-1 which if they’d focused putting AI into it, would launch them ahead of their rivals such as Native Instruments or even Image-Line.

There is no point in a device like this, it's just a worse phone. Maybe if they could make some dedicated AI chip that could run a ~7b model locally with good battery life, that would be cool and useful outdoors.

If it was just an app, nobody would give a shit and everyone would scoff at any pricing or subscription fees. With a device, it gets attention. People like shit (try an deny that while looking at all those waifu dolls around your computer.) A device you hold in your hand is much more special than tapping on an icon.
And they're poised for a nice payout when one of the big companies buys them to turn into an app.
