I went from being on Medicaid which I never used to making $105,000/yr and getting booted off then having to use the health insurance market place to buy insurance to the tune of $350/month for the shittiest plan with hilariously high deductibles, so I may as well not even have it and I’ll never use it. So basically because I got a job again I’m paying an extra $350 a month in taxes for no reason. Great system.

In addition to the federal, state, and local tax I’ll pay and of course the sales tax on basically everything. Just, so great. Such a great system.

I legitimately might be. The quality of life boost I got from the far greater sum of money I'm now making minus the effort required to make it and minus all of the other shit I mentioned isn't even THAT much better than where I was at before. And like I said, I never even used the damn insurance and still most likely won't, so I'm basically just tipping the health insurance companies $350 a month for existing which is also in a roundabout way tipping the government an extra $350.

Medicade blows. I can't find a single dentist who takes it, and no one will let me pay cash because I'm on it. Subsidy only works for city folk, and it still sucks ass.

There was a doctor and dentist a few miles from where I live, but I never used it because I'm seemingly healthy overall and never really needed to use either.

          >buy insurance to the tune of $350/month for the shittiest plan with hilariously high deductibles
Just don't get insurance and pay cash if you have health problems.

I've heard mixed stuff about this. Don't they penalize you? I heard Trump removed it, but given the state of our country at this point, I wouldn't be surprised if there's some sneaky shit the Biden administration implemented that will somehow buttfrick me for not having insurance. If there's no penalty I will absolutely just cancel it when I get a chance.

Kek, yeah we know. Poorgays are subsidized to such an insane degree in this country and they still think they are owed.
          >pay muh student loans

It's fricking insane. By the time all the smoke clears just from the actual financial stuff I'm already getting kicked in the balls pretty hard, but then when you factor in that I now have a 45 minute commute, wear and tear on my car, wear and tear on my body, less free time overall (less gym time, hobbies, etc.), and so on, I'm essentially actively inflicting harm on myself for doing what is supposed to be the right thing. That's not even taking into account inflation and the fact barely over 6 figures doesn't mean what it used to. It's really absurd.

Six figures still puts you in the top 25% of earners. That's money some people kill for man.

Ya, it's not worth it. They only pay out a small fraction of what you put in, and they typically don't do it until a year after you've been paying in.

moron tier advice. I have good insurance I pay like $250/month for but total out of pocket costs are like $50 max a visit when without they would range from $500-$1500. Insurance is a scam but healthcare is a bigger scam and I would rather pay up front knowing I basically get 90-99% off medical care if I need it rather than wait for something to go wrong and then have to pay out more than what I pay for insurance in a year.

Crazy it was even possible for elected representatives and unelected bureaucracy to figure out a way around this one. Proves how fricked up republics are. A popular vote, asking white landowning males if anyone other than white landowning males should be allowed to vote, ALWAYS gets rejected. They have to circumvent democracy itself to pick it apart.

Taxes from the citizenry on an unconditional basis is unconstitutional, not to mention a perverse incentive to just keep robbing the country with no gain. Tariffs force politicians to actually attempt statesmanship

I remember getting two (small) checks near the beginning of the pandemic and feeling pretty weird about it.
There's no earthly reason the government should ever give me money, but if it must, at least make it an interesting figure.
