Literally me too. Starting in June.

        Anonymous

it's actually quite easy to get a job here in Euroland. Data is booming so the typical backend engineer (now data engineer) jobs are up for grabs. Pretty easy to get into with a CS background. If you can't do 2 months of Azure or AWS cloud certs and you're good (azure is better since the growth is there). You do have to speak the local language though otherwise you will compete with every eastern Euro for the jobs that multinationals want to save money on.

Jeets will always be shit, but the Eastern Euros and Russians are pretty good devs these days.

The yanks of 20 years ago I might have agreed with you, but the latest zoomer stock of devs are pure shit coming out of burger education.

        t. someone who hires tech staff globally

Eastern Euros yes. Eastern Euros enjoyed EU wide processes that required them to modernize their education to be on par with western European institutions at a rapid pace. With the resources dedicated to it, this wasn't that difficult of an undertaking.

I can't say much about Russia. I still hear from people that their CS programs are more like math programs with rarely something related to software or programming.

Yup. I noticed and I'm making the move this june. Crazy what's going on. If the US doesn't find a way to come back from this, the EU will unironically be the next business and software powerhouse.

Basically, companies are continuing to outsource intellectual labor, as they always have done. Why would you pay 200k to a yank developer, when you can hire one for 20k if its a jeet, or around 30k if you want an actual competent dev from somewhere like Eastern Europe?

If you're a white man in software dev and you're not secure in a high paying systems programming job or running your own business, you deserve to be replaced by a street shitter who would have stolen your merit anyways

I'm sorry for not wanting to be paid literal minimum wage despite my skills and experience level. I'm trying to shed a tear but somehow it's not coming out. Maybe you should cry about it for me.

It's currency debasement because "legal tender" laws = state monopoly on money, and those closest to the printer are the ones who win, i.e. nepotism. Doesn't matter what system of government, every nation to ever exist has done this. Monarchs used to recast the gold/silver/whatever metal coins they taxed from their populations into smaller denominations (i.e. turning 1000 coins into 1200), stamp their face on it, and spend them. Literally no different with modern banking in every nation in existence. It's why central banking is so popular, and why no one is ever educated on this bullshit. Capitalism is not the problem, it is and will always be states monopolizing the money supply and enforcing legal tender laws with violence

there are no rate cuts if inflation isn't under control for a long time
rates will stay the same for several years

also at this point AI is so good that JR devs have no use-case,so even if cheap borrowing was a reality again companies will opt for LLMs before they opt for a full hire

the only people getting picked back up are senior devs and higher

Yeah…I’m at a point where I would be hiring more, but LLMs are now good enough that I have to decide “would this person produce better work with less babysitting than Claude?” The answer for anyone without degree and a few years of experience is not only no, but post-LLMs they now do negative work since even mild babysitting takes away time I could be babysitting a language model instead.

I wonder when they'll start outsourcing medicine to Mexicans and French? That should start bringing change to America's overpriced medical services. Plus Mexicans will tell you what you're doing wrong and what lifestyle changes you need, besides whatever medication(s), as opposed to the typical American doctor simply offering pills or change of pills and avoiding the source of your issue if fixable.

Thinking about stopping going to work.
I've been working there for years now but I think it might be time to stop soon. It just doesn't do it for me anymore, it's not really helping me in any way. I don't get any benefits, hasn't helped me with women, or with meeting new people and it's barely enough money at the end of the month. I'm not getting any joy out of it anymore like I used to. It also eats up too much of my time.

So yeah after waging for many years, on and off I admit, it might be time to finally call it quits and move on with my life, so my new years resolution was to quit work and just frick everything. I won't be paying any more bills, taxes, utilities, fines, groceries or any other financial obligations. Just not going to participate anymore that's all.
