The UI is actually excellent, but the backend is software-based, and that's the reason it sucks.
We are all still waiting the arrival of the Olive Video Editor, which is basically a premiere clone. I urge you to check it out.
It's backend is completely hardware accelerated. That is what makes it stand out.
dumb question but why doesnt it use ffmpeg ? can it not do hardware accelerated stuff with it as a backend? or is ffmpeg not usable for a "normal" video edit software?
shit licensing and shit terms of use, I do not touch this clusterfrick. I really don't trust forum admins saying shit you can't read on their real website. Their forum is also a clusterfrick.
Shotcut is okay-ish if you're looking for a replacement. I've used it plenty of times before and while it's basically a glorified FFMPEG gui it still gets the job done.
It's eternally neglected by devs and there is no synergy between compositor and video editor so you have to do some moronic exporting, at this point it's just better to use dedicated video editor.

Olive 0.2 dev build hasn't updated in months. I hope we get some major news soon.
Last commit was 2 months ago. What's happening?

you ever tried out shotcut? it's not amazing, but it's a video editor.
DaVinci Resolve is pretty much the most powerful video editor on Linux right now.

Just use ffmpeg like an alpha chad
It's UI is great. Wish I could just use ffmpeg options to render it
i edit 4k videos with imagemagick and perl. get on my level, codelet
we know you're a lying scum.
as a windoze user, kdnelive is decent. but if i was forced to use it then I'd just fricking kms. or just reinstall windows.
Unironically use blender for video editing.
More like krashelive.
krashes alive
Kdenlive? Just pirate VEGAS Pro like a normal human being.
You can't use Vegas on Linux moron
Dual boot into Windows. Linux is just for servers and skids anyway.
Why not pirate premiere?
davinci resolve works (sometimes)
Buy AMD and stop blaming the software because you were too stupid and chose Nvidia
kdenlive sucks and youd realise that if you werent a dumb Black person who never does any real work

Is Kdenlive the Gimp of video editors?
True, this is also an option. Damn. Is there's anything this thing can't do?
